For the past year and a bit I have that diggers was one of the most overrated wingers in the game and last night reinforced that. I though JOC (James O'Connor) was quiet and some bad mistakes in the first half. I'd put Beale at 10, JOC (James O'Connor) 11, lilo at 12, Horne at 13 if AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) out, folau wing and Barnes at 15. If Barnes out folau at 15 and cummins on the wing or tomane if he's ok to play.
But agree. JOC (James O'Connor) was not hot. He didn't cost us the game but just didn't do much and Beale played there more in the second half it seemed

My thoughts: Forwards played well as a "group" (I hate that expression)!
Digby is not the brilliant player he was a couple of years ago.
I felt 'concerned' when JOC (James O'Connor) was anointed as our # 10.
Is there a place for the Honey Badger in the squad, or is he injured too? Lilo should be taken aside by a tackling coach and told not to lead with his head! That's for forwards with the skills to use low body-height in the contact. He can't be picked again on his "test form", but to be fair he was in play for less time than the National Anthem was!! (Clock was stopped at 54 secs.)
Thousands of Oz Rugby fans like me have never seen Mowen or Lilo play, as we don't have pay TV. Mowen lived up to the hype, Lilo didn't.
Folau has been seen in action on TV regularly in NRL and AFL matches, and played as we all thought he would. Is it fair to say he's a 'lighter' Jonah Lomu? (1.93m/103kgs v 1.96m/125kgs).
Going on our performance last night, and if things go our way, we will win the next two Tests by 10 to 15 points each.

Obviously Ii am seeing it through a more rouge shade of glasses than a number of others, so I won't comment any more on the legitimacy of what he did.

However most here seem to think he is guilty it would then come down to punishment. Why 4 weeks?

How many weeks did Benny A sit out for his stomp on Ben Robinson. That one was:

Ben A was not involved in the ruck.
Not near the ball.
Clear sighted in that Ben A had clear sight of where the ball and Ben R were.
Drew the refs attention to it prior to doing it
Then did it right in front of the referee

Because Ben A was not on an off field yellow

Doesn't matter. The action was deliberate, the aim POSSIBLY not. However the result is clear to see. There should be no leniency for a deliberate stomp that ACCIDENTALLY connects with an opponents face.

It is difficult to argue that if the action was deliberate, as evidenced by the angle at which Horwill turns, that the aim was not also deliberate. Otherwise, it is akin to Horwill going on a blind fishing expedition with his boot with a clear risk he would rake one of his own players (which is obviously BS)

Having seen him play every game this year, it is not the usual way Lilo tackles. And yes, I agree it is not a good technique, it's how A. Fiangaa got knocked out in the WC (I think it was the WC)
Also obviously Lilo didn't show his skill, one poor tackle and you write him off? Find some footage of him playing before you judge. Agree that Mowen was outstanding.

I can't say it was deliberately aimed at the face, but that was the effect.

I just saw the head stomp. It's very inconclusive. The guys head lands and then kev's boot comes down. Kev's movement was a tad unnatural though. But I don't think he will get anything for it. It's just not conclusive. He wasn't looking at the guy or anything and they were all diving forward. Just unfortunate

Your logic is sound and if I had not seen any video I would agree, but that video does not correlate with your statement.

I have just paused my way through that video and at no stage does he have a line of sight to his own feet.

Can you give me a still image or another video where he has a clear line of sight and where his face is NOT buried into the back of another player?

He does not have clear line of sight but his head is out of the maul and he would have a good idea where people are. It does not look good. After the one vs the Brumbies he will find himself in trouble. That will be a huge blow and I suspect he is shitting himself right now.

gel - beale did the right thing in straightening as shown in the bottom frame but he needed to let the ball go to Folau in the next step. Once he hold the BIL 11 up, which he will do, Folau is every chance of going the distance.
Really poor decision making.
I put this down to lack of game time in the last 8 weeks.

I am just catching wind of the Horwill stomp and I am gutted by it. I'm sorry boys but that is a bloody stomp and it looks like it was directed at Jones face. As a reds fan and as a wallabies fan I am livid with Horwill. He is the god damn captain of the national side in arguably the biggest game in a decade and he pulls that crap. It is disgusting and he should be ashamed of himself. Poise, composure and that you expect from you captain and he dishes that shit up in the 3rd minute....WTF? It's not like he had been bashed for 75 minutes by the lions and then lashed out in frustration - the 3rd bloody minute - PATHETIC. I say take the captaincy off him for good. Apologies, obviously I took your comment the wrong way, I just thought it was harsh to say a that player, who by your own admission you have not seen play, who was knocked out a minute into the game didn't live up to the hype.

How many players do you actually think are "injury free"

My understanding of pro sports is that everyone is injured and playing with something. (I remember Natham Hindmarsh saying the evidence of a top player is how he plays wounded, not when "fit" because that never happens)

Deans takes his medical team's advice, he ain't the doctor.

If the allegation is true and that is a big IF, whoever responsible has breached a duty of care surely. Not just any injury, we are talking about a mans neck and the consequences could be very severe.

This is more a matter of due diligence than hindsight.
