Hopefully Noah continues to get that 22/23 spot to be exposed more at test level. I'm not sure he's up to starting just yet and needs some more exposure.

IMO it could be a tactic to prepare him for the RWC
He won't get on if it's tight.

One red in the 23, at 23. It shouldn’t be a thing. But it will be I expect.

4. Darcy Swain (10 Tests) - QLD Schoolboy

7. Michael Hooper (c) (118 Tests) - Played Junior rugby at Wests ;)

10. Quade Cooper (75 Tests) - Reds Great

12. Samu Kerevi (38 Tests) - Reds Great

13. Len Ikitau (13 Tests)- QLD Schoolboy

15. Tom Banks (19 Tests)- QLD Schoolboy

18. James Slipper (114 Tests) - Reds Great

22. Noah Lolesio (9 Tests) - QLD Schoolboy

23. Jordan Petaia (16 Tests) - Reds

If it helps 7137, these are all the Queenslanders I could quickly go through. You best believe if there was a state of origin, we'd be pushing to have Hooper playing as a Queenslander ;)

I hear Jake Gordon likes pineapple on his pizza. Basically a Queenslander too then!

Happy with the side and there are few surprises. I like the look of that backline, threats everywhere. There is also some punch in the back row.

I remain uncomfortable for now with Slipper as THP, especially after his last game for Brumbies. But the guy is a great and this certainly is a time (one of many) for the man. I'm disappointed for Wilson b ut it is the right decission.

I would have been tempted to ignore Gordon and to look to a 6/2 bench. But that just means that I'm now quite interested in what Gordon brings to the show in the last 10/15.

Our starting back line is simply top draw, no complaints. Again I am a little disappointed for JOC (James O'Connor) but you only put one of Quade/JOC (James O'Connor) in the squad, and please keep building Lolo.

Our engine room the locks, have plenty to do here - I doubt that the challenge seems out of line for them.

In summary, there is so little to challenge here that it is hard not to see it as our best 23. [Tupou notwithstanding.] Let's do it Wallabies.

Agree with your assessment Dru. Definitely prefer a specialist TH coming on in the second half but oh well. Hopefully they don't drop the ball lots.

I wonder where Perese is at. He'd be more damaging coming off the bench that Petaia.

then that is a waste of a bench spot

It's more a necessity of having coverage at 10 than anything else.

I don't think there's really a better option to make that bench spot more useful without leaving us heavily exposed if Cooper got injured.

The trick is, who would come off for Paisami? Kerevi? Ikitau? I think Petaia is a better bench option.

Oops

Perese, not Paisami. I think you'd have Ikitau or Kellaway coming off if you needed some impact in the last 20.
