Is he capable to kick to the moon like Burton so Vunivalu can catch the ball in the air? Obviously, when you have the advantage
Without distracting the thread back to Wednesdays game, he (hodge) does seem to kick it a fair bit higher than anyone else I’ve seen in rugby. So possibly.

I think that too. It's a pity that now he's an Origin player, it's impossible to sign a player of that profile.

Not many reliable kickers in Wallabies backline, not even the quality and amount of English squad

Burton seems to hit it so it torpedo's straight up, boy it veers all over the place on the way down. We should be able to do that!
Not many reliable kickers in Wallabies squad. It's interesting in a country where Aussie Rules and League are dominant, maybe that's the reason, they get the best kickers for their code. Even WBs can't got a realiable kicker to the post often, Lolo is kicking very well ATM but is not common and if he's not on the pitch the succesful percent to the post would be drop drastically

Not impossible - Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers, Brad Thorn, Lote Tuqiri, Clinton Shicofske, Karmichael Hunt, Timana Tahu (and others I’m sure) had origin caps before moving (or moving back) to Union. If they want to make the move, they want to make the move.

A different Era, at that time Wallabies used to win the Bledisloe and Union used to compete against League.

Thorn was caught by NZRU and ARU got the cheap version of Karmichael Hunt

Are you new here? ;)
Cyclo, I don't think querty understands that the idea that any player can play anywhere was a dodgy thoght bubble of Eddie Jones', along with don't compete in the scrum and lineout just get it over and done with. Those bubbles cost Australian rugby a huge amount which only died when Rennie took over from Cheika.
At last there is some respect for the differences in skill set based on position.

He could break Rugby.

Imagine him at fullback with a bit of time putting those torps up. Sheesh

As well as cuts and cauliflower, there's a few papers floating around that show headgears do reduce impact force more than you'd think, however their effectiveness decreases over the number of impacts (i.e., they fatigue/wear out). Type 1 is honeycomb, type 2 is the 'older' Madison style

Interestingly there's also a study that shows players say they are more likely to play more aggressively if wearing a headgear.
Hi Le Cheese, do you remember where you got that study from? I'd love to read it, wrote an article on another site and many claimed they had no advantage in reducing head impact and therefore concussion.

I meant Hodge. The other guy plays a different sport so not available for tomorrows test.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC314393/ this is the one. Their methodology was bench test rather than in situ, but interesting regardless. There's also this one, which is more recent and has great detail https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10439-022-02912-5 Interestingly the Canterbury and Gilbert (most common) headgears were the worst performers of the 5 they tested

Here here……get those bumbling dinosaurs into a room and get some rules changed ….

how about getting those "bumbling dinosaurs" all together so they can all be let go from their positions in one swoop.

Also on head gear in relation to Wilson….if you are representing your country would it not be better to wear green or gold headgear as opposed to red.. you can get them in any colour… or is it a case of look at me? Trivial maybe …I agree….

The game should try and concentrate on its best aspects… counter attack, continuity in phases… and restrict pedantic penalties, cards and numerous injury stoppages…..

Will be interesting to see the data that comes out with smart mouthguards becoming significantly more common at the top level.

I can't imagine it's going to be pretty, and I'd say WRs recent updates to head contact and concussion protocols are an attempt to get on the front foot and are preemptive of bigger changes. I saw that WR (World Rugby) are offering them to all players at the Women's World Cup which, as you said, will be interesting.
