I find this thread very cringe worthy as people clamour for the moral high ground by trying to cast dispersions at the other side and trying to over analyse things that may or may not have been said. Fault can be found in all participants in Coopergate, but what’s the point now. It’s over, NZ won and deservedly so. There is no award for who has the most moral high ground, nor is moral high ground achieved by throwing crap at others.

I think its time we all move on.

True, Scotty, we do. Debating the merits or otherwise of coaches and using anecdotal examples to besmirch large numbers of fans are a little different. I had one mate who copped an earful, and several others who had a blast. Bit tough to draw a conclusion based on one, and not the others.
Anyway, it's done, and I just can't see anything constructive in it.
But people can argue it till the cows come home if they want!

Let the little bro's hate, this tournament and the Quade thing certainly has set some new lows in trans tasman rivalry. We have always had the chuppy Kiwi in Oz frothing at AB wins and shouting from streetpoles about it but some of the recent hate and get him comments about some of our players, coach and what some supporters got over ther really has shocked me.
Maybe after this win they might settle down

Watching on television, would have to agree it has been a very good tournament. I have two buts, one is the terrible jeering and booing of kickers that seems to be the accepted norm at rugby matches around the world. I HATE it with a passion. There is always absolute silence for the kicker at Thomond and Musgrave parks whether it is a munster or an away kick. Genarally there is silence at Lansdowne rd as well for both sides. Why can't people just shut the fuck up; some say that the silence is almost more frightening.
My second 'but' is please can all the preciousness about the HAKA end. Having directives about where people are to stand and look is fecking ridiculous. If people want to stand eye ball to eyeball, let them (although you will need to get the microphone out of the way first; do NZ do a sound check as part of the captain's run?) or if they want to do what Campo did and feck off and do their own thing let them. The whole 'respecting cultural history' thing is deeply patronising to the rest of the world. Do your gurning morris dance by all means but please don't give us all this cultural pretensiousness. I would like to see us celts turn round and responding to your war dance by exposing our backsides which is what we would have done historically or we could just sing the anthems and get on with the game like everyone else. You have organised a great tournament and you are in my experience great people but this stuff makes you look a bit foolish.

Funny you should mention that I was talking about the french response with a mate today & we both agreed anyone of celtic ancestry regardless of the team they are playing for should be able to do the 'celtic challenge' as a response. Doubt the IRB would let it go ahead though.

NZ need to have an urgent word with the IRB then because NZ is being made to look ridiculous in the eyes of the rugby world. And there is nothing good natured about booing a man as he takes a place kick, it is crass and ignorant; much like sticking your tongue out at people like a three year old.

I don't like the booing and don't do it myself, but there are far far more important things for me to spend my time worrying about. It's not like anybody got hurt (and in the case of QC (Quade Cooper), when he did - he was clapped & cheered off the field).

Did the NZ high commisioner get involved when NZ felt their morris dance was disrespected in 2006? Maybe that will be one thing that will be acceptable to be booed when NZ next tour Ireland. Fining France is the final straw.

I liked your earlier suggestion about NZ splitting the fine over the haka 50/50. It is the best way for NZ to distance itself from this bullshit.

there were a few collections going around the victory parade to collect to pay the fines for the french, which I thnk shows more than enough (on top of comments by past and present AB's, as well as by Darren Shand, AB manager) that NZ is firmly pro the french reaction and aginst the IRB bullshit.

But I dont' want to get in the way of the TPP crusade.
