The Renaissance man is off to France. Maybe. One day. And may well be going around with the Brumbies this year, against all odds. :p Heres the crappy google translation of the rugbyrama.fr interview.

Elsom: "France why not!"

Rocky Elsom in Narbonne

Narbonne fans could not believe their eyes ... Rocky Elsom , the Wallaby flanker with 75 selections was at Friendship Park and Sports to watch the game against Narbonne in Auch . Earlier in the day, we met in the busy Market Hall ...

What is the reason for your visit to Narbonne?

Rocky Elsom: I was invited by David Gibson (company director FG Management, which became the majority shareholder RCNM this weekend, and manages the image of the player), who suggested I spend a few days in the region. I went to a friend's wedding in South Africa ... and I decided to make a detour Narbonne! I agree that it was not really on my way, but I say it was an opportunity to discover the area!

How do you see the connection between the club Narbonne and FGM?

RE: I got yesterday ... I'm not really qualified to speak for about ... it will ask for David! No, honestly, I can not speak on it ...

You play with the Brumbies but acutellement ... Do you see yourself evolving in the colors of a French club?

RE: France? Why not! I still have a year contract with the Brumbies. I have already done a season with Leinster, but the Irish and the Australian are two English-speaking countries, there were many cultural similarities between the two countries. Here (the flanker was in the middle of the Halles de Narbonne, between a butcher's stall horse stalls and traditional products), everything is so different, everything is so exotic to us Aussies ... I was also much talk of the fervor in the stadiums, which are regularly filled ... People are passionate about. In Australia people are more measured. A very good friend of mine just signed with a big French club also ...

Who is it?

RE: Luke Burgess at Toulouse . I have not heard recently how he plays now?

Well ...

RE: I knew it! And besides being a great player is good guy!

They must've quoted him wrong there, he's signed to the Waratahs not the Brumbies

He's in France atm?? Waratahs training has started, even for the players that are injured, why is he not in Sydney?

Apparently he was going to a wedding in South Africa but stopped in France as it was "on the way".
It was last week end.

No wallabies are training. Those not on tour have leave as per their CBA

Pretty sure I saw Vickerman and Kepu training with the Tahs yesterday on Foxsports News

Kepu was training Vickerman is just doing gym work though.

Well, they are entitled to time off. They can choose to train I guess.

Interesting game to catch this weekend - Toulouse v Toulon.

SMH has a story on Gits who may start this time around outside Jonny Wilkinson, and I hope to see Burgess start for Toulon. You can catch it on Fox (Eurosport) from 1105 on Sat night (thats Qld time) in the run up to the Wallabies vs Wales game.

That makes sense. Players from the Pacific Island nations aren't considered foreign in the French leagues are they?

Chisholm is still injured, right? I didn't see him running around in the (bits of the) Bayonne replay (I watched) last night. Did crack up at the Hairydonkey senior brawl involvement, which was only funnier knowing who he was 'as it happened'.

I'm currently watching Ryan Tyrell playing for Cardiff. I was shocked but I double checked, it's the same fellow who struggled at Super rugby level and retired from a neck injury a couple of years ago. He was notable as one of the first WA locals to play Super rugby.

He's looking really good so far and is executing his line outs expertly (and that was always his issue). Good on him to make a comeback from such a bad injury.

Excellent news, Toulouse/Toulon would be a big rival match?

Toulouse just won 33-12 with the bonus point. Burgess very good again, he scored the 3rd try at the 78th minute, the try of bonus for Toulouse. Giteau outclassed by Mister Jauzion, Wilkinson chose to kick to many balls so we didn't see Gits a lot, except at the end when Toulon had already lost.

Chambers is playing well for Munster, a real spark for them. Have to say I was a doubter.

What a crack up the finish was. (Sorry, Yoda speak!)

Tough day out for Gits, Toulon's pack was hammered and it was rare that he saw the ball at 12 and rarer that he wasn't smashed by his opposite or worse, a rampant gang-tackling bunch of Toulouse forwards.

In the last minutes, chasing the game, he did regather a Wilkinson chip well and fired a beautiful pass to David Smith. The movement broke down and in the ensuing fracas Giteau threw an intercept pass to Burgess who was able to swivel in his tackle and score! And wasn't Burgess happy about it!

Burgess was very good again, though his pack is superb and he was again reliably getting quick clean ball going forward with runners queuing for the next hit up.
