So I've been eagerly awaiting my Bledisloe cup tickets now for, oh, 7 months or so (since I purchased this year's Reds membership, of which Bledisloe tickets were a part), and as such, have been watching my inbox like a hawk for anything from the ARU.

Today, an e-mail rolls in, offering me the EXCLUSIVE opportunity to join one team 2011. Hooray, I think, my tickets have finally come through. Alas, I was mistaken - it's an attempt by the ARU to pry my hard earned cash, but at first glance it seems like there might be some merit - 2 tickets to each game at the great white elephant stadium for the next 10 years, and some other "exclusives".

Unfortunately, like all things associated with great white elephant stadium, when you click through to the link, the brochure explains that for the LOW LOW cost of $1350, you get the "right" to purchase 2 tickets at games played at aforementioned stadium for the next 10 years. This, from an organisation that can't even give me tickets I've paid for for a game that's on in only 2 short months time!!

For those interested, the other "exclusives" were delights such as a periodic e-mail, a nice name badge and invitations to purchase tickets at other stadiums. Umm, shouldn't those sort of things be done for anyone who is a member of a Super team (or, for that matter, anyone who's a member of a club team)..

With things like the foxtel TV deal, the great white elephant stadium deal and now a killer deal to give you the right to purchase tickets for the one time only low price of $1350, you'd be forgiven to think that the ARU is on a mission to marginalise the game, letting only the elite and those who have no idea how else to spend their money be a part of the whole shebang.

Maybe I've got it wrong, but with deals like these, I think the ARU has lost its way...

I didn't think that Reds season tickets include Bledisloe tickets?? I got a forever red membership and have already bought my presale tickets.

FYI, a pair of debentures for the right to buy 2 tickets per match at Twickenham currently retail for $38,000

Ahh i see well i would be giving them a call, or sending them an email. They are pretty good at responding I have emailed them with a few queries.

FYI $38K!!! For that I would want the right to sit on the cheerleaders laps!!

I'm not sure what they are, but they sound sexy. Are they twins? And are they..."nice"?

Not to be a dick, but why does it matter if you don't have the tickets yet? What do you need them for two months before the event? It's not unusual for pre-purchased event tickets to be released closer to the event.

Much like the NFL "seat licenses" that fans purchase in order to have the right to spend thousands of dollars a year on season tickets. Weird, but if people are paying for 'em...

Fair point Richo, except that when my Reds membership arrived, there was a letter saying the Wallabies tix would arrive in April... Then when I called them early May, I was told the tickets would be with me by 15 June, no later. Now, I'm being told "by the end of July". At this rate, it'll be game day and all I'll have are empty promises...
