Well they withdrew their side this year on the eve of the season as a lot of their players are now at Uni.

I would like to share an amusing anecdote. Apparently Eastwood ran at a loss last season, because they won too many games!

Winning bonuses can kill ya.

That's a bit of a blast from the past, wambers.

The Brissie league team I used to support, Fortitude Valley RLFC aka Valleys aka The Diehards, had a few financially-disastrous seasons for that reason, amongst others. The others were a clubhouse that no-one in their right mind would drink at other than on match day (this was pre-pokies) and, crucially, match scheduling.

Top team clashes - 'matches of the round' - were scheduled for Lang Park. Lang Park income was divvied up among all the clubs. When Valleys were at / near the top of the ladder - as they were for a few years in a row - they'd get shiteloads of Lang Park games.

Which was shiteloads of income diverted away from Neumann Oval...
