Righto, then, they've equalled the record winning streak set by the 1965-69 AB & equalled by the 1997-98 Springboks. In a perfect world the potential record-clincher would be v the 'boks at Fortress Eden Park but, hey, Wallabies at ANZ will do just as nicely, shame we have yo wait until August to find out if it happens.

TEST RUGBY'S LONGEST STREAKS
23* - Cyprus (2008 - 2014)
17* - NZ (2013-14)
17 - South Africa (1997-98)
17 - NZ (1965-69)
16 - NZ (2011-12)
15 - NZ (2009-10)
15 - NZ (2005-06)
15 - South Africa (1994-96)
14 - England (2002-03)
Other leading nations
11 - Wales (1907-09)
10 - Australia (1991-92, 1998-99, 1999-2000)

10 - Ireland (2002-03)

@Highlander35, any idea what Scotland's longest run is?

Fixed.

Put the champers back in the fridge folks.

NZ still have a few to go to break the world record for the most consecutive international rugby inion test wins, which is currently 23* and held by the Cyprus Moufflons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyprus_national_rugby_union_team

Anyhoo, back to the match & series. Positives:

- played poorly in Auckland but still came away with the win.
- blew the Poms off the park in 3rd 1/4 @ Dunners & 1st 1/2 @ Hams.
- Fekitoa's promising debut.

Negatives:

- played poorly @ Auckland.
- started poorly @ Dunners, went off the boil there & Hams (credit to Poms, though, for hanging in there).
- bench depth not what it needs to be this close to a WC.

On balance I give them a 7 for the series.

Good to be wrong (ish)!

Thoroughly enjoyed the game (obviously), Jane had it right, when he said the Poms had one eye on the holiday. Can't blame them either.

Some points:

Ashton must be the worst positional player in the history of the game. I'd hate to be on his team.
We need Read on the lineouts, obviously
McCaw, Kaino, Read starting, Messam on the bench - works. He was a driven man when he got on.
Aaron Smith had 2 blinders and a shocker this series - when he's good, he's really really good. But when he's bad...
Retallick is insanely good. He has no other option.

and the last, and most important, point.

Bledisloe 1. FUCKING HUGE!

Again, as the season progresses the All Blacks are trending upwards. They have an uncanny manner to peak when it is necessary for the national cause and it is something all other nations should be envious of. I know I am.

That said, I certainly don't think they will have it easy against Aussie, but:
  • NZ won the final with what I think was their 4th choice FH.
  • They beat the Bokke last year at Ellis Park for the first time in a couple of years and with plenty of motivation for the Springboks.
  • They beat Ireland in extra time in their last game of the season to seal a perfect record for the year.
  • They beat an England team in similar manner this year.
  • Improved and just took care of business from there.
  • They have finally equaled the Tier one record after falling one short in recent years on two occasions thanks to Australia and England respectively.
  • Despite the misconception around their squad age they have fielded 15+ new caps since Hansen took over and they know just how to introduce these guys to keep their winning environment in tact.
That is some serious confidence, self-belief, mental aptitude and winning mentality building right there. It will take a real shocker for the All Blacks to lose a game coupled with an enormous performance from the opposition. It would appear we as Bokke are out of luck since we may end up playing this confident, winning and mentally tough team in the Semis during RWC 2015 provided we beat England, Australia or Wales. Whoever survives Group A will have had some knockout experience right from the start as well.

This All Black team is serious when they speak of staying unbeaten. Serious about being the first team to retain the world cup and one has only to look at some of the documentaries of yore to understand the All Black psyche. Each team is trying to better the previous one and each player knows he is in a caretaker role of his position.

The Wallabies are being commended in certain circles for their victory in a tough and somewhat different style of victory over France in the second test and I am one of those that think it is good for Australia. Similarly back home the Springboks are being talked up after winning, albeit fortunately, despite being down 17-0 and then trailing by 13 with 8 minutes to go; yet when you compare it to the above feats of the All Blacks they pale in comparison. The Darkness trailed the first two tests at half time and still won and it is not the only times they have done this since Hansen took over. Not to mention the All Blacks also reversed their solitary defeat under Hansen against England at Twickenham last year which makes it 4 in a row against said opposition.

To all true All Black supporters, you have the most successful international team of all sports. Enjoy it, but please keep your graceful nature the rest of us have come to love and respect.

McAwe. And his rib. Iron Will. Iron Stallion. Iron Wanger. Iron Foot Niggle. Ironing Board Rep. i have done that rib thing, albeit at a marginally lower level, broke 2 ribs in a high school game, thought it was just bruised or something and didnt do anything, found out months later. God knows how he played so soon after though, from what I remmeber it hurt to laugh or cough and howFT did he even raise his arms above his head?

NZ and their fans National Advisory Board (all NZers) shouldnt get up themselves mainly because, basically, all the other teams seem to be bigger than them. That'll get you grounded quick fast. And the U20's coming through in SA and Eng are so huge they look like they ate their mums. dinners.
