I think the journo is just creating a bit of hyperbole by making his list longer.

Realistically, Crawford might have been picked ahead of Betham but he's also uncapped so it's a little harsh to include him in the list.

Shipperley is healthy isn't he so he isn't ahead of Betham. He's just played a test before.

Davies has played one test and sucked so it's arguable whether he would have had a look in even if healthy. Betham definitely had a better 2013.

Henry Speight isn't eligible so including him in the list is a furphy.

Also, the players you keep mispelling are To'omua and Kuridrani. Kuridrani seems to be pronounced as if there is an n before the d, but there isn't one in the spelling.

Surely you can't be implying he's was the only one against Samoa that sucked. Tamani also sucked and he is the 22. Shit, even Nathan Sharpe sucked that day but that hasn't been held over his head so why inconstant with Davies? The two mentioned were in the engine room so what chance did a winger have. The same two had more of a break than Davies who played off a short turn around after the super rugby final. This really is a bit tit for tat and doesn't really matter but I think your statement about Davies is a little bit unfair.

Davies actually had a good year in the game time he had after returning from injury in 2013. Certainly had a positive impact on the Reds in attack and was far more aggressive in defense than we have seen from him.

That said, a big congratulations to Peter Betham on his debut. It is a fair reward for some good form in 2013. I think he can have a real positive impact and sure as hell hope he does.

when I wrote down To'omua and Kuridrani's names I knew the spelling was incorrect but was sure that no one would be petty enough to call me on it ;)

You're a lawyer, BDA, I'd imagine any judge'd give you a clip over the ear for submitting a poorly-worded affidavit. As would the Titles Office if you ever got a document for a property conveyance wrong. Miss-spelling people's names is ALWAYS poor form. And bad manners.

I don't think he said that at all. I'm surprised anyone would interpret it that way, in fact.
Davies had one Test (his first) and kinda sucked.
This affected his likelihood of subsequent Tests.
I'm not sure this relates to any other player, who may, or may not have played many Tests, or may, or may not play in a completely different position, in which there are more, or less options.

Rod Davies' game isn't suited to Test rugby, he requires plenty of space to work in with his speed. He's not great in contact, he can get rag-dolled and make a lot of errors.

So, why hasn't he been directed to 7s? If he needs space and has plenty of gas surely he should be aiming for Rio in 2016.

7s athletes need the whole package. That's why Carlin Isles barely starts for USA, also Shannon Walker is usually on the bench for Australia.

I wouldn't mind seeing Izzy get a bit of time of 12 next year to allow KB (Kurtley Beale) to slot in at 15. By the time the World Cup rolls around we could be fielding an absolute monster of a backline if they all stay fit and focused.

Given the number of players who've debuted this season, depth and lack of international experience shouldn't be a problem either.

News tonight Beale singed a year and eyeing of 10... But that the new..

Izzy can still run off the ball At 15,just adds another option in offence..

Lindommer, lawyers are only as good as their legal secretaries (Mrs Doug was one in a previous life), in that their mistakes are usually amended by others, e.g. wrong beneficiaries in wills, incorrect spelling of names, bad time-management practices, etc!! [I come from a family of lawyers, trust me, they aint as perfect as some people think they are]!

BTW, even more off topic I know, however, I've been thinking of you today, given your location, and the close proximity of the bushfires!
I hope you and yours are all ok.

His game certainly wasn't suited to that run against Samoa.

I'm not suggesting he should be pulling on a yellow jersey anytime soon for exactly the same reasons, but despite his apparent abjectness he scores a lot of tries by getting to the right place at the right time in super rugby.

Thats a nice attribute for a winger to have in test rugby too, but there were zero opportunities in that game for anything other than getting pulverised. Sorry for the misuse of the term, Bill.

Players like Morahan and Shipperley would be more convincing choices if they found their way into the game as often as he does.

It's sad that Sir Richie "Parrot" (as in McCaw) is avoiding contact with Quade tomorrow. I guess he's protecting his good looks! Can't have Quade stomping on him again! I look forward to the booing from those small-minded Kiwis. Maybe we can do likewise next home test in memory of Richard Loe's eye gouging and tackling above the mouth!!

Shame that Link doesn't care for Morahan..........maybe it has something to do with his move to the Force?
He had a pretty good season for the Reds and his game against the BILs was excellent showing that he is comfortable and effective at test level.
He could have started at 15 with Folau back on the wing for this test. That would have been a very handy back 3.
