There are not marked for nothing. Like my dad use to tell me when I got an innocent hiding (pakslae) at school. Its for all those when you got away!

I know Bakkies and Etsebeth can get going when the going gets tough. Battleship however is only a monster type player who you should avoiding running into on the rugby field. Its his presence on the field. But then Schalk Burger and Etsebeth knock him down stone cold (within the laws in tackles) in CC/S15 rugby in the past. Maybe its just the way we play the rugby in SA. Its been drilled from early day, when you tackle, make it count BUT within the laws. Thats why I am a bit disappointed in the Eden Park crowd. Look like they cant handle or appreciate a good old Boere tackle. The bag throwing from the All Black players also did not go down well for me. Luckily our lot kept their cool.

When you star fly half gets injured, the crowd is always upset, regardless of anything.

As for your bag throwing comment, grow up a little fella. It takes two to tango and in the stoush, there was no cool being kept by anybody.

And if a leading elbow to the throat is a good old Boere tackle, you can keep it.

Ok so your angle has slipped to the forearm fend just like the tackle was and not the Carter tackle.
"Dang we need to find the "dirty Saffa" angle or we will never sound convincing...

:) Oh hello MR, long time no see.
Boet please dont do the TSF thing and just bend the words the way you like.

No way he start off with a leading elbow, as a fellow MooLoo supporter you should be disappointing in Messam. Looked like he drop dead to milk a yellow and red. Your All Black lot run like a bunch of hungry dogs to protect your pretty boy Carter after been leveled by Battleship.

Disappointing stuff Boet. Expect much more from you lot. ;)

Can't wait for the threads covering the return match at Ellis Park. This is just the curtain raiser cyclopath.

It doesn't get much more old school than Saffer and Kiwi going head to head at Ellis Park.

Only they might run out of breath at altitude?
I love All Black v Springbokke Tests, as I really don't care who wins, but just love the brutality.

I just like it when they bash the bejesus out of each other the week BEFORE they play the Wobs, not AFTER they have both used the Men in Gold as their crash test dummies in the build up to their big scrap against each other.

Luckily we'll have FdP back for the SA tests. he will make one hell of a differense and trust me the Ellispark faithfull will get there in full trottle revenge mode after this one. First we have to get past the Wallaby test at Newlands.

If JdV was nailed in the same way DC was at new lands, the crowd would be up in arms.

I'm a huge Messam fan so maybe I'm being blinkered, but I think an elbow on the throat from BdP would flatten anybody - he's never shrirked away from tough stuff so I think your accusations are wrong.

I personally think people defending BdP for yellow 2 are as delusional as those thinking yellow 1 was called for.

No way, Newlands would probably cheered with the amount of no teeth All Black supporters. I am also a messam supporter, but he was disappointing with that act. sam Cane on the other hand blooded for his country and that earn my respect and my ALL Black POTM.

Ok fair enough Paarl, I am happy to accept that you think getting elbowed in neck or wherever is perfectly legal, and anyone that recieves and goes to ground is diving. Perhaps we all have to accept we see rules as different, and as you seem to indicate it how you learn to fend in SA, so perhaps we will move on. I still think BDP is a great player, but has to be a little careful he's not remembered for accidently using elbows and accidently eye gouging, because I really would love him to be as respected outside of SA as in it for his playing ability, and unfortunately, perhaps rest of world rightly or wrongly, aren't quite as accepting as SA on these things. Think how Richard Loe is thought of, and Schalk Burger who tends to be remembered as an eye gouger and not how good he played.

I had a somewhat unique perspective on this as I only caught the 1st 10 mins of the 2nd half of the AB V Bok test (without sound) while at the SFS on the weekend. I presumed that Bismarck was being redcarded just for the elbow, which seemed ridiculous. That was enough for me to be sure the ABs would win so I returned to my seat as the Roosters/Manly final was about to start.

I commented to my mate that I had just seen the softest red card ever and that I wasn’t even sure it was a yellow card as it was only an inch or two away from being play on altogether and I could have imagined some refs calling it that way (it hardly would have been the first time possible foul play was deemed accidental, there are examples everywhere e.g. Horwill and his wandering boots).

What’s my point, well none really other than perspective and context obviously changed everything. I do think the IRB has handled this correctly though and much better than some of the previous controversies. I see no need to dump Poite.

I see no need to dump Poite.

I do. Just as players are accountable for their performances so should referees be held accountable for theirs. I also think that Peyper should be given a "now listen here young man" talk for not consulting the TMO in the Aus v AB game.

The referees should not be a secret society. After all we do contribute to their salaries.

Are all players dropped after perceived poor performances? It seems pretty rare these days at test level given the rise of the word "rotation"

I agree Poite should be held accountable, but this isn't a sacking offense nor should he be overlook for internationals going forward (say in the way Stuart Dickinson was treated). Sure give him a talking to etc. etc. but there aren't enough top quality refs as it is.

I am not suggesting he be dropped completely. If a person has risen to that level in his profession he would have to have some redeeming features. He needs to be doing some games in the second tier and the ass ref for first tier. And I am putting Peyper in this category too.
I do not think that Poite or Peyper are incompetent at their profession. I believe they made errors of judgement and the need to be put in the subbies as a learning experience.

yep Baldric, that is probably best way to handle refs having off days, most of them do have them at some stage. I think the fact he made one clanger, that then had an affect later means he has to be somehow shown it not acceptable, though I would tend to think he already knows it.

Mind you as I have said before if all the real good refs didn't spend all their time on internet forums etc, we would have a huge pool of top refs!!!:p

You flatter me!

Dan, maybe I am a bit harsh, but we have always called for refs to be accountable for their actions. The frustrating part for the coaches, players and public is that they have such a closed society. Maybe they should have a ranking system and they move up and down according to their latest performance.

Apart from Poite's clanger in the first half he did not have a bad game and the only mistake he made with the BdP call was not asking the TMO to have a look at the whole incident. He had made up his mind already about the tackle.
