SLC sew up an undefeated premiership with an 18-13 victory over SEC. Go Lauries! Sounded like a cracking game. Commiserations to the Eddie’s boys, great season.

Congrats SLC great win and well deserved premiership. Eddie’s deserve big congrats for having a great season also. But i guess the other question is what the hell happened to Iona ? I was told they were a very very strong age group and they only won one game ?

I hear that SPLC got the best of Iona today by a very healthy margin

You're right Analysis 101, been far too quiet. I'll throw in my 2 cents.

Will be an interesting year. Marist have quite a few boys returning, with strong contributors from this year Harry Gould in the front row, Pat Gavin in the 2nd row, and Condon, Barry and Tierney in the backs. 2nds won a premiership with quite a few year 11's, and some big improvers in the year 10 cohort. With Anthony Mathison in the coaching group will be a threat. Laurie's must start as favourites though. Good to see they have got their act together. Du Plessis will have them ready to go and many backing up from their premiership this year. Will miss Jackson. Goss and Holt in the forwards though. Nedanic backing up will have a lot of weight on his shoulders, but very impressive this year.

Iona have always been the strongest in this cohort but didn't look so good this year, really missed Quinn at Fullback. However, They did share a premiership in the 2nds with MCA (I don't care what the AIC website says, SLC BEAT Marist in the 1st round 27-5, NOT the other way around. Surprised this has not been mentioned before). Their 10 A's did seem to drop a bit, but I still expect them to be a strong contender.

Padua will be good too, but I need input from others. Not sure on those backing up but their head of rugby has been working hard to get a solid program together and it seems to be reaping dividends with premierships in 10A's, 9A's and 8A's. Watch this space.

Of the others expect Eddie's to keep improving on results this year. Better showing from the opens teams and a good if not great year 10 cohort. Peter's have 7 forwards returning, not sure on backs depth though. Can never tell who will rock up though so expect they will cover whatever weaknesses they need to. Expect a few new faces. Pat's and Villa are a bit vulnerable. Reasonable results from year 10 has them looking better for 2023.

Prediction;
1 SLC
2 MCA
3 Iona
4 Padua
5 Peters
6 Eddies
7 Pats
8 Villa

Gentlemen?
Actual standings
1 Premiers SLC
2 SEC
3 SPLC (SPLC and SEC did not play due to the washout round)
4 MCA (MCA beat Villa in the trial)
4 Villa
6 Iona
6 Padua
7 SPC

Iona given they were the underage champions nearly all the way through were very disappointing, and many though Padua were better then they were. Marist was decimated via injuries to what would have been their starting front five, and were hot and cold. SPLC had a solid team, some good recruitment, it was a surprise loss to Padua which bombed their season. SPC were spirited but could not win a game. Villa were solid and competitive. SEC were the surprise packets, competed hard all season and developed some belief in themselves. The champs SLC played good winning rugby, turned up when they needed to and deservedly are the champs for 2022.

Iona and Padua stunk. Let’s see what their impressive 10As offer next year. Ashgrove just lazy and resting on their laurels. Can’t blame injuries for their terrible season. So good to have Lauries back winning 1st XV premierships. Let’s see what the others can produce next year.

my analysis is this - SLC deserved winners - Eddie’s and Peters were really competitive and Villa wasn’t far behind - Ashgrove underachieved like big time but did enough to maintain credibility. Padua and Pats need to do some work - like real work else next year they will be just speed bumps.

Does anyone have a full breakdown of the premiership game through their eyes they can share please.
I may be looking through Blue and White eyes but my takeout's of the game where:
- Laurie's where the stronger side and deserved the win. They where more settled.
- Eddie's lineout was a major weakness considering the number of kicks for touch.
- Laurie's played the referee better (followed his game) while Eddie's got pinged for offside often

Quick take on the game that meant nothing other than bragging rights at Banyo. Villa kicked off into the wind for the first half and were quickly found out with Padua scoring 3 quick tries before they even blinked. Padua looked slick and fast, first thoughts this was going to be a cricket score.
However like most rugby games a swing in momentum on the back of a few quick penalties and Villa go over for two tries just before halftime.
Second half starts and Villa with the wind behind them find another gear and go bang bang....Padua hit back with a couple quick tries again themselves and the game is a real arm wrestle. Halfway though the second half i think it was Padua no 8 gets given a slice of cheese from the ref and a penalty try awarded...Villa in front. Ref called uncontested scrums after no 8 was off (not sure why) Both coaches yelling at each other over why scrum went uncontested, thought they were going to start swinging.......Game was very close down to the last minute as only 3 points separate them. Padua missed all 6 conversions even from right in front......probably the game breaker really.

any grade 10/11s we should be looking to watch next year?
Mitch rogers from padua will mostly likely be the best player in the comp
Bailey ward or wood will be a big body but work him a bit and he'll be done
The Iona pack will have a few returning and will be dangerous if they click better than this year
pats have manaki bateman who will be a titan for pats next year
Unsure about Eddies and St laurences but if these teams look up to this year or last (lauries) there could be some deadly inclusion... watch out.
Again Padua will have 11 players (i believe) returning that played or benched this year. Will be good to see how they utilse the pack in conjunction with dangerous backs.

There's a few handy footballers in that Ashgrove 10As side that will pushing for 1st XV selection next year.
