Round 7 Predictions
Villa v Iona
The big boys in the green and gold will get the W this weekend, in an easy game against the boys in the black and white. Villa, have improved dramatically this season lead by big Joel Sherry in the front and Coorey, Fisher and the rest of the boys in the star-studded backline. Word is that Cooper Sauvage, blind-side flanker, will attend pasta night for the first time this weekend after his misses finally lets him go out with the boys. Iona, in what has been historically a tight and tough fixture, will go down in a nail-biting game. GAME OF THE ROUND
Ashgrove v SLC
Ashgrove should get the win this weekend, in a tough fixture SLC will surprise but Ashgrove's backline will be to strong.
St Pats v Eddies
A season to forgot for Eddies, Pats will have no trouble here..
Padua v SPLC
Padua will take back to back premierships this year, bullying Peter's through there forwards, and finishing off tries through a classy backline. Congrats to Padua, who will either share or outright take home the Premiership this weekend!

Mike, your entitled to your opinion mate, however, how about we lay off the derogatory comments aimed at a 16 year old boy with no right of reply.

Game of the round is without doubt the 3rd XV St Pats v Padua in the "Grand Final".

I think the game will be won and lost in the forwards with the key match up being Malou from Pats and 'Nugget' Fordyce from Padua.

Game is at 11:00 Field 1 at Curlew Park

Some good photography of some Iona games on Facebook - marc photography and lj photography. Good to see Villa with something similar and of course the Ashgrove videos.
When Iona and Padua played one obvious strength of the Padua boys was knowing when to stay out of the ruck or maul. When an Iona player went down with the ball Padua would commit only one or two players, but Iona forwards all went in. Iona would retain the ball, get it to their backs who would then get pummeled by the Padua forwards who were standing out with the backs. If Peters do the same as Iona, Padua will win easily.

Check out Ben Wicks Photography on Facebook for some sic pics from the Pats games. Give the page a like and support an emerging photographer. Stallard has nothing on this fella.

This weeks, game of the week would surely have to be 2NDS XV- St Laurence's college vs Marist college Ashgrove, I look forward to watching these two teams give it there all this weekend, I am predicting a close game but Lauries to have the upper hand as there is some extremely good talent coming out of that team, but never the less Ashgrove 2nds have proved to be very good with there ball pattern movement and very good at the break down. This weekends winner will be the team with the best energy running on the park and the team that can win the breakdown and field position. I will personally be dragging my 2 kids to watch this game as it will go down as one of the best game of rugby I think on the AIC history, let me know you thoughts on this game and let me know any strategies that the coaches might be using, I'll attempt to get some inside word into patterns and structures from my sources but feel free to comment on what you think

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that you are not in fact someone who will be 'dragging his two kids down' this weekend, instead a senior at either ashgrove or lauries. A long time supporter with 2 kids would probably struggle with time to find a 2nd Xv's 'patterns and structures' or have enough time to nominate a 2nd XV game as the best game in AIC history. I'm betting your mates in year 12 who are disgruntled at not being in the 1sts who are in the team will probably attempt to 'give you the inside word' . Just my thoughts, could be wrong though.

Looking forward to the Ashgrove/lauries reunions this weekend. Ashgrove to win by a lot in the main game.

Any word on AIC selections yet?
Mate I can't believe the audacity of your claim that I am just a year 12 student from Ashgrove or Lauries, as I have many times on this thread stated I am avid ST EDMUNDS supporter. Over past few weeks I've had pleasure to witness some great AIC fixtures due to there close proximity to my residence or family members. The 2nd's from Ashgrove and Lauries are the undeniable pinnacle of 2nd XV rugby in 2016 and have been this season, that is common knowledge, so any claim of bias is not supported by any factual evidence. So I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that you are simply a Padua or Peter's year 12 student, playing down the top performing teams in the competition. From what I've gathered the patterns and structures that the Ashgrove team will be applying are similar to the ones used by NSW GPS schools Scots and Kings. It was also used by the Aus Schoolboys last year. Lauries is applying a simplified adaptation of the Chiefs game plan seen last year and this year, rumour has it they've been spending a lot of time on their field goals as well....possibly in preparation for a England v Australia Wilkinson style ending?

Cut the crap and the pretense fellows.

The moderators have some pretty soecial tools that help cut through the very thin screens of fog that some posters try to put up to obfuscate their real identity.

In many cases these are not needed, and the real you is quickly evident to all on the forum based on language and posting pattern recognition. Believe it or not, posting your age as 29 or claiming to be "independent" is not often believed as being a fact.

Today, I was out walking my 4 dogs, and i happened to walk along side Harts road, when i heard some yelling and a lot of boys voices, i went up to see what this drama was and it happened to be St Peters First rugby team training for this weekend Premiership clash with Padua. i tied my dogs up and just sat on the grass and observed this team training, and may i just say that Padua will have to bring out the bigs guns this weekend because this Peters team looks unstoppable this round, the whole training session was intense work, focusing on recycling the line (For those of you who are unsure of this term it means transforming from a defence output to a attacking output). Then as it struck 5:00pm they went into a team run, and they whole time team run was based upon Crash balls, and spreading and recycling the ball, which leads me to believe that they are going to play padua this weekend, at there with game which corresponds around a league pattern. Whilst walking home i called the Padua coach and just asked for a debrief on this weekend game and he said that after watching multiple game footages of Peters, they have decided to switch there league pattern to a pattern like ashgrove which resolves around 2-3 (2 hits to the left- 3 hits to the right) and a quick spread to the backs. It will be interesting to predict this weekend premiership clash for these two teams, but i have Peters to win by 2 tries as they look to good for the padua line up!! Hope this helps with pre-game tactics.

Thank you Mr Dickens this will help a lot.
I hope you are feeling okay after your walk as it must be a long way for you and your dogs from Ipswich (or Ashgrove) to Indooroopilly.

I've heard a rumour that St Pats have secured 10 positions in the AIC 1 Team. To add, apparently this year Marist weren't as pushy for the most places and accepted and owned their ability. I suppose Pats have secured this new position, reportedly being out of touch and unsportsmanlike. I'm not 100% sure of the exact positions, although for Pats to claim that they were better than Padua is poor.... They definitely put up a great fight but to claim 10 players is a bit rich.. On a more positive note, the other schools including Marist, Padua, Lauries, Iona and Eddies should have more quality and quantity of players for Confra! Although its not a good look if it turns out to be true..

Hey mate, I will state this again as I have already stated it before if you keep up with these threads, I live in Indooroopilly, I go for Eddie (old boy), since my team isn't doing to well I report on other teaches progression throughout the season, if you do not like what I say please hold back any comments I do not come on here looking for trouble, I'm just stating what I heard for other low ranking teams as I feel it is unfair that some other teams have the systems to uphold a sold rugby team, but then again I'm sure you can comment on this since you do love the position wing and you do sit mostly on the side line waiting for the ball to come to you every 30 minutes?!? Feel free to comment on what you see in a game whilst your playing a game, and feel free to drop your resume to me at Johndickens@cowboys.com.au and I'm sure I can pass you on to the board and we could further look to giving you a position in scouting within Brisbane

Although the AIC 1 team will mainly be filled with Ashgrove, Peters, Pats and Padua boys i still expect to see some Villa, Lauries and Iona boys in there like Brant Quinn, Clem Beaverson, Rani Robin, Joel Sherry, Patrick Agnew and Jarrod Cameron

I believe that Feeney from Iona (who played a full game against Pats and then 1/2 against Lauries before missing the rest of the games injured) has been picked on reputation and is on the bench for AIC1. Probably warranted on ability but perhaps rough on those who have been playing well. Only other Iona player I know of is Nathan Marshall I believe who will be playing 7.

Sorry for the misunderstanding John about where you live. In hindsight it is actually very thoughtful of you to watch other teams train and pass information onto other coaches.
Unfortunately I will have put down your offer of scouting for the Cowboys as my allegiances already lie firmly with the Norths St. Josephs U9's. Needless to say though I will provide you with a full match report from my 16C's game against your old school. Also, if you can make the time tomorrow I would suggest bringing your dogs and two children down to Curlew Park at 11:00 where you will see some incredible talent on display from both respective 3rd XV's. I'm sure the Cowboys would be very interested in a few key players, particularly those mentioned on the previous page.
Finally, say please say hi to Charles for me. Im a big fan.
