Any early tips for this weekend?

Pats vs Villa - Game of the round. Villa to win in a tough game by 5
Eddies vs Iona - Eddies to bounce back after a narrow loss, Eddies by 30 +
Ash vs Padua - Padua to dominate in forwards, Padua by 20 +
Peters vs Lauries - Both teams coming off good wins, Im backing Lauries by 14

I agree that it will be a very tight game Pats and Villa, I'm expecting Pats to just get up, Villa will improve every week. They got a lot of potential!

Iona will put up a decent fight after last weeks performance. Eddies will be too strong though. Especially in the tight five.

I totally agree that Padua will beat Ashgrove. I'm expecting an absolute carve up. Padua 30+

Peters are a surprise package in this comp. Lauries will be hunting for another victory and they'll find it if they play smart. Lauries by 3

Someones looking on the upset side of things....

Not being bias here but can see villa getting the W over pats. Although pats scoreline against padua wasn't flattering last week padua's forwards compared to pats. Now from what i saw from the trials villa didnt look they knew what they were doing. May have just been the fact it was the first game for them but structure within the two centers. I dont how much pre season training that villa did it really didnt look they were playing structured footy so im gonna have to go against your judgment and say 20+ to pats.

Ill go with you on the eddies Iona game 30+ to eddies

Now Ashgrove and Padua. This is the game of the round for sure. Two of the Juggernauts in the AIC rugby competition this year. This is gonna be a tight one. If Ashgroves at home and the boys come out to win and play with the play in hand ashgrove will give the padua boys a run for there money. Both teams have come off the back of a win Padua know if they dont get over ashgrove they may have trouble for the premiership as they will need to rely on other teams upsetting ashgrove. But im going to have to say if Ashgrove is at home in say; 1-7 Ash. Looking for the upset

Finnaly Peters vs lauries. Peters on a high after topping eddies last round will look to keep the ball rolling in taking on what looks like a team thats set to be the heart breakers. Lauries will be tough opponents but i think peters will come away with it another close one 5-10 to peters. Hoping those imports do well haha.

You've got to be kidding yourself to think that pats vs villa is the game of the week. Both teams lost badly last week and wont contest for the premiership.
Ash vs Padua will be much better standard along with peters vs lauries.
The winners out of those 2 matches will in all likelihood be the only teams that can win an outright premiership.

Hold up i wouldnt call pats out of the run yet. Although Padua gave it two them SEC had a loss agaisnt SPLC unexpectly. Now if Padua losses to ashgrove like i said which is in limitations can produce a work on which puts pats in a position to have a crack. Although i gotta say too early to call

The moving of game times was done by the sports masters of AIC schools. There is very strong consus that this was a poor decision in the extreme. No consideration for school spirit/ support , traditions of the game, playing in the hottest part of the day etc etc.People around the grounds tell me crowds were down around 50% at all AIC 1st games. A weak decision that will impact the game on all levels.. All because the sports masters want to go home early !!!! .only option.Email headmasters and sports masters to air your grievance.
Certainly agree. The support at Curlew Park (SPC) was terrible, far less than what last year got for a non-rival game from the students point of view as well as Old Boys, Parents, etc. There was no atmosphere at all. It was very hot which had an impact on the cheering so much so about a fifth of the boys left at half time. As well the First XI Soccer finished well into the first half of the rugby where last year it would finish a couple of minutes before at absolute maximum which had an effect on the size of the battalion.
I certainly though it had something to do with the time. There was something about the build up through the day that seemed to be missing with the earlier start. I understand where the sports masters are coming from though it really should not come at the expense of the game and the sport.
Looking forward to Back to Shorncliffe Day though which will be at 3:15.
Certainly contact Sports / Rugby Masters. Some schools have the emails on the websites. If not contact the schools and get them to forward the message on.

Don't know how Villa have gone over the holidays and first few weeks of school but in the first trial against Pats they got rolled. What has happened since and how did the team look against against Ashgrove.
Pats didn't look bad against Padua despite the scoreline. Padua were the better team though.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out on Saturday.

G'Day Fellas, I've seen a few tips from this week which have been misguided and based simply on personal opinion rather than results and statistics.
Nonetheless, here are the tips.

Pats vs Villa - After copping it from marist last week, Villa will look to respond well. However, the strong forward pack and flair in the backline of pats should steer them to victory.

Eddies vs Iona - This could be a very interesting match. I believe Iona has the potential to cause an upset, however, I doubt it will happen. Eddies are a strong side this year and top 3 favourites, look for a 15 + margin.

Ash vs Padua - For some reason I've seen some tips stating an absolute thrashing by padua in this game. Not too sure if these tippers understand who they are playing. Marist is the most successful team in AIC history, by a long margin and after their 55-0 win over villa last week, I can't see them losing even though its away. Ashgrove by 7

Peters vs Lauries - Least exciting game of the week, Lauries should be very determined to get the W this weekend although the good and exciting backline of SPLC may be able to work its magic and deliver some great tries. Depends on who turns up to play. Peters by 5

Agreed with above with regards to the Ashgrove v Padua game.
Ashgrove really did turn up to play last week against Villa, they looked like a team on their way to a premiership, I understand however Villa isn't one of the tougher teams this year. This weekend will be a great test for bothsides, as the winner will most likely go onto be in with a premiership chance. I recall last year Padua came to Ashgrove undefeated and after a tough first half, got absolutely dominated in the second 35 by the Ashgrove forward pack. I'm expecting a similar display this year. Ashgrove by 12

Apart from O'Toole and Creighton, which other Padua boys are potential threats to Ashgrove tomorrow?

The Ashgrove pack is very mobile, well-drilled with an excellent scrum, how do Paduans think their forwards will match up against them?

Padua supporters have been almost silent on here this season, I'm interested to know whether that's due to confidence or some nerves.

I don't know enough about Padua this year to give a tip for tomorrow, but playing at home in these big games is always a big advantage. I'm hoping for good refereeing and no injuries for either side to ensure a fair result.
