Bloody hell! You Canadians are tough markers. Maybe you can afford to be because you're all bilingual. while us Aussies to our shame are arguably the most monolingual people in the developed world.

Hedo Türkoglu has been playing pro basketball since the age of 17 and has been in the US for ten years. He has a Turkish wife and probably mixes with Turkish people away from basketball with whom he talks Turkish.

He hasn't exactly had the time or need to accumulate too many degrees, nor any particular reason or opportunity to develop interview skills. He seemed to get by in verbal shorthand.

Blue said:
He asked him the same question twice. Second tiem hHe just said they had balls. Interviewer replies "balls in the hand".

The way I heard it, Blue, Hedo's answer was "ball" to which the interviewer responds, "the ball in your hands", which at least makes some sort of sense.

I shudder to think how some of our wandering Aussie players handle interviews in French.

Good work BR

Nothing on Sydney Uni or a Uni player or ex-player.

More of the same please, and we promise to stop bagging Carter.

Don't we fellas .... fellas?

I fear your efforts may be in vain, LG, that couldn't possibly be Bruce of Broadway with no mention of The University of Sydney. Or its footballers.

Not that I want to go on about this too much, but I've heard Hedo interviewed before. His English is fine. He just didn't have anything to say.

Hope AF because a sports writer after he hangs up the boots.

Reading your second paragraph suggests you should not contemplate a career in any field of writing. Apart from the wording, single-sentence paragraphs are not good style.

Yeah Bruce, you shouldn't go on about Uni too much, just teams that everyone obviously cares about, you know, like Gordon, and Joeys. ::)

Sounds to me that he's saying the whole ELV effort was a fuck up, and that we should never have tried to make the game more open.

Nah I think you have to take a step back and look at it more generally. From a players point of view, they had one set for domestic comp, then one for Tests, then another couple of tweaks for the EOYT - three sets of rules in one year? Fark!

Agreed NTA. I would add that if 'officialdom' had got interpretation right in the first place then nothing would have needed to be tweaked.

Its going to be a backward step this year turfing the ELV's. The pace of the game is going to halve. Particularly at community rugby level.
