So - I'm assuming that there is a subscription cost to directv but there is no extra cost to get the rugby.

If that is right please advise what it costs for the directv subscription. I have rugby friends in the US who may be interested.

Or is the whole thing free?

Thanks

I use this site. Its legality is 50/50. They charge a subscription fee, like $10/month or something, but there are dodgy legal disclaimers all over it. Since it's not CLEARLY illegal, I'll put it up for others to make up their mind.

Is there an GGR award for the most courteous/sucky post of the year?

It is a satellite based company. I pay $60 a month and I get 200+ channels, and the rugby is now included. You can get deals for the first year for $30 a month for new subscribers or sign up for 2 years for $40 a month. They come and set up the dish at no cost to you and away you go.

Well I just ended up biting the bullet, and paid 30 quid for a year. I have to say, great site, loadsa coverage, i like the expat tv channels too! streaming of the barcelona match was excellent, so looking forward to fridays first S15 dust up. Top tip scarfman, I rate it as the best streaming site ive tried. Mucho grassyass.

another thing about that site is that they seem to offer more then 1 feed for most games... It looks as though they offer different feeds from the difference sources(ie Sky Sports, Setanta etc)..

Which is a good thing if one feed is jumping all over the shop..I watched a soccer game last night which was glitchy, turned over to a different channel and it was streaming perfectly... fingers crossed it stays like that for the Reds game! otherwise i will be stream ABC Australia Radio

Super rugby

Hey all, there are some great suggestions in this thread, thanks.

Unfortunately for me, Direct TV is not an option but an rugby mate of mine has pointed me to a website that itself points to a lot of sports including some of the Super Rugby, French Top 14, Heineken Cup and believe it or not, the occasional 60's, 70's and 80's NRL Grand Finals. Send me an email if you would like the url - I would prefer not to post it on GGR.

Good pickup Scarfie. I gave it a go on the weekend and it worked well so I've forked out for a 6 month subscription. It's not Foxtel quality and if you're out you can't record/watch a replay later but on the other hand the 6 months will cost me what a fortnight of Foxtel would and I can always torrent HD copies of the game if I miss them (which I'll be doing for Tah's games in SA).

As for the legality, I can't see how it's any less 'illegal' (well, copyright infringing) than any of the justin.tv/vimeo etc links on myp2p are. In the end they're basically the same - they're streaming content from their home subscription tv connections which is no doubt explicitly barred in the T&C's for Sky Sports, Setanta et al - but they don't have all teh advertising and 'chat' crap that you get on the myp2p links.
