Thank you Ace for the shout out. I must admit I thought this year the GPS depth would show out against ISA and CHS. I was happily surprised on the class of the ISA side, going down but only just to both GPS and CAS. The win by CAS though is one for the ages. It is rare. The fact that CAS won both the 2nd and 1sts against GPS is a huge result. It shows that the selection debate in the GPS 1sts and 2nds did not really have any impact. The big advantage CAS had this year was 2 quality front rows in both the 1s and 2s, along with 2 excellent half and 5/8 combinations and 2 pairs of centres that can tackle. It is rare for CAS to have that. The CAS comp was very close this year. Despite Barker wining for the second year, (and most long term readers know I view the world through a Red lens), the Waverly, Knox and Trinity sides had some quality players scattered amongst them. Waves came 3rd in the comp this year by losing to Baker Knox and Trinity by 5 points or less in each game. We all know that these results could well have gone the other way. Amyway thanks to all for the efforts in the tipping comp. Lots of fun. Lets see how the selectors see thing for later in the year for the NSW 1s and 2s. Should be a good mix of CAS, GPS and ISA in those teams.
