Based on some of the shit they telecast on the sports channels on Foxtel you'd like to think a few more games shown in timeslots that suit Fox would have to be at least a chance.

The theory is that Foxtel have only forked out the cash to try to ensure they continue to get exclusive rights to the S15 when it comes up for review next year (ie to keep it off free to air). So it will be interesting to see the way Foxtel present the 3T and what time slot they out it in.

To keep costs down, no team will be based outside of a city with a super rugby team... Unless there is a wealthy benefactor to underwrite all the associated costs, which I doubt there will be.

I wouldnt push a 9,10 team in the first year, especially ones out side of the capital cities.

I would prefer new teams that come under the S15 franchise' control.

Why not let the Reds have three teams where they place their own players to get the best benefit and then have them select the other players to fill the teams from Club Rugby.

If you are a star at club rugby you earn a spot in the new team and if you prove yourself you might get a Super rugby spot.

I think the talent would be more spread out in this system as it would not make sense for a super rugby franchise to have all of their props represented in the same dominant team, they would look to spread them out to get more game time.

For the reds I would like to see a team that draws talent from Ipswich, Logan and Coomera (north gold coast). This would represent a massive islander population and with it great body shapes and an inbuilt love of Rugby, and on top of that many social issues that scholarships might be able to solve that the parents would like....and make their kids play rugby. I would look at 2 other teams in Brisbane.

I think that the main thing that can provide benefit to rugby into the future is to have a pathway for kids. Scholarships by the ARU or state union not just GPS schools and move from school through the levels to Super Rugby, with a season at each level to prove yourself and to actually learn. This would mean a Super Rugby player would be about 22 when they make Super Rugby and hopefully they might have a degree or trade to keep them straight.

Seems to me there are 6 fairly likely teams already
1. Perth
2. Canberra (Vikings?)
3. Melbourne
4. Sydney Uni
5. North/North Shore
6. Western Sydney (Parramatta and Penrith - is West Harbour regarded Western Sydney?)

and then from Brisbane I personally think it'll be"
1. Ballymore (UQ, Geeps, Bro's, Norths, Wests)
2. South Brisbane Dragons (Sunnybank, Souths, Easts - think they'll fall under the "Dragons" monicker cause Sunnybank have so much more dosh.)

If the tournament is sustainable and manages to grow I think we'll see it evolve into a true club championship were clubs complete alone and have two tiers, that's probably 2 and a bit decades away however I would say.

Canberra, Melbourne and Perth are expected to field teams, while there is likely to be a North Harbour and Western Sydney side as well as North and South Brisbane teams. Sydney University has announced it will attempt to enter as a stand-alone team. Randwick is expected to form an alliance with University of NSW.

Behind the pay wall. Article is actually on player payments in the NRC. Essentially Super Rugby contracts will cover NRC games, EPS and club players will be paid to play, but wages will be 'reasonable'.

Let's face it p.Tah, payments to those other players don't really need to be too high. There would be few players lost because they really cannot afford to miss out on any work to play, as the vast majority would forgo income to follow their dream. It's a little harsh to look at it that way, but whilst their is so many variables including the financial sustainability, it would be the way to go.

For example myself, as a club battler would gladly take annual leave or leave without pay from my secure and successful career if I was selected. Now we just need the 60 players ahead of me in my position here to go down with injury and I'm a chance!

Eastwood wouldn't be able to get in alone though if they forged a partnership with Macquarie uni they would have the facilities, they don''t have the money and are owned by the local RSL.

Southern would only get in if Kevin Maloney decides to become a bigger benefactor. But its a geographically isolated area and they would have to move to kogarah stadium or something. Uni everyone hates and would destroy any semblance this comp has with becoming something greater than club and it seems from P.tah that Randwick are forging something with UNSW, but otherwise they wouldn't have the standalone money.

People from sunnybank on twitter seem hesitant due to their commitment to "community rugby" stuff too.

It's interesting that all these major clubs were so adament on the shute shield not being destroyed, but if they gained promotion it would effectively demote it in itself. So are these clubs realising that this competition could easily supercede them over time?
