2019 SYDNEY COLTS RUGBY

That’s my point.
If you think 40-50 mins is convenience, then there’s not much else to say...

There’s plenty of things for young blokes to do,that require little effort,no travelling costs, that are local to them.
Rugby is not the centre of everyone’s universe.

I'm screwed with google maps then - I want to go to watch @Blues training at 6 on a Thursday and it is a long long trip, but the some trip is only half the time for the Sunday Morning game down - I thought it was the same distance from the beaches on both days :)

Unfortunately, you can't rebuild your club from a colts programme alone.

Those of us with a long memory will remember when Drummoyne and Norths were promoted back to SS in the early 90s. The first year up in SS, the Drummoyne club recruited heavily in colts and their Colts 1 side were very good and their lower grade colts were also competitive. In grade though they basically played with the same blokes who dominated in the old 2nd division and they were wolloped every week. Now no kid wants to go from strong colts set up to a shambles in grade, so most of the kids left. Norths on the other hand went out and recruited a first grade squad to play SS so that their players who were dominant in 2nd division went into 2nd and 3rd grade and the club was immediately competitive. They put some effort into colts, but they concentrated on grade. 20 odd years later Norths are still in SS and Drummoyne are long gone.

A strong colts programme is important, but it's only part of the answer for WSTB (or any other club).

Yes, true, but how many Dirty Reds played finals footy in the SS in 97, with a 4 i recall in the GF that year as well.

Agreed - congratulations WS2B colts on the victories.

ps what happened with 3rd colts? did not having that 3rd team help blackers? i mean in terms of the players being a bit more fresher and ready for 2 big games? looks like thats the way to go if it its.

If I recall South forfeited 4th grade (not colts) the previous week - things happen, and there can be reasons.
GG you seem very very anti 2Blues - WHY?
It is great they are putting in a huge effort across Western Sydney to keep the code alive out there.
GG can you please share other efforts being made to keep our game alive and kicking out west rather that continually trying to drag great effort down (or it appears that why with the questions you continually ask).

Yes I believe that’s exactly what happened, on previous weeks the 2blues had guys playing all 3 grades which was killing them . Good luck to them

Well done to the Colts boys selected to represent Sydney 18s in their match with Country on 15 June.

5 from Western Sydney 2 Blues - great effort.

Maybe this just shows how the 2 Blues colts, with such young players, are simply taking a little time to get used to playing at this level.

We have a very young squad. Average age is about 17 and 9 months. 80% of the lads have less than 2 seasons of rugby and like a few other clubs our stocks of props are so low that we've played with 14 in first grade more than we'd have liked. With no one that played 1st grade ineligible to play again next year there is hope. Some really motivated and talented young kids who could have just as easily given up after our round 1 trouncing at the hands of Manly (a few bailed.. but I'd suggest we're better off without them with that sort of resilience).. 1 swallow doesn't make a spring.. but all is not lost out in the west. We need to build a program strong enough to encourage the many good footballers playing at other clubs that were bought up in the 2 Blues junior programs to stay local. A long way to go, but with new facilities next year, some new ideas and a strong base of younger guys who still have years of colts in them there is hope.

I think on this one occasion, you have misinterpreted what i was saying in regards to the 3rd colts game. my point was, as i thought was clear, its seems that having their 3rd colts was hurting them with players getting fatigued or injured and by the looks of it, not having that 3rd team play helped them with the other 2 grades, and if that was the case, then surely just keep with the 2 colts for now so they can continue doing well.

souths did forfeit 4s last week. that was due to the club putting in place a deadline for rego payment to be made or you dont play. those players didnt pay in time (players from all grades) which meant they didnt have a full squad to take the field. Seems to have been rectified now though.

I was aware of as all that.
Your posts often questioned or put down WSTB - never making reference to the hard work they are doing for Rugby in Western Sydney.

Anyone know about the whereabouts of Miti Tuinakauvadra, losing him was a big blow for uni colts. Last I heard he got snapped up to by a Japanese University for a crack at the Top League. Such a hardworking and damaging forward, entertaining to watch as well

Yes all correct Walton and turner definitely on dollars good on then though , feeling for woods who have brought turner all the way through only to get dumped in his final year at colts
Bignoofa,
Regarding you’re comment re: Feeling for Woods who have brought Turner all the way through only to get dumped in his final year at colts” I feel it’s only fair to inform you Turner’s decision to take up Gordon’s offer this year (Randwick also offered him 1st Colts this year) was to be one of the hardest decisions he has had to make throughout his rugby career to date! (They also offered him a great package the year before 2018 - Turner declined due to his loyalty’s to Woods having been in the reps program from U10-U17 he wanted to remain with Woods for his 2nd year of 1st Colts however, having Loyalty all though a great trait does not always bring with it player advancements meaning proven established player development programs, education benefits, advanced S&C coaching etc. unfortunately Woods could not meet these needs for this season we’re as Gordon could offer high
level on going player development both on and off field within their rugby programs and educational packages.
Sometimes things are not so black and white as they are seen, Woods understood the reasons behind Turners decision,I’m hoping yourself and others may also be just as understanding. For if there’s one thing I do know about Turner apart from being an exceptional young rugby player he has integrity both on and off the field, one of the attributes I am quite sure contributed to him being awarded ‘Waratahs Junior player of the year 2017 - Spirit of Rugby Award.....

Breaks_away, Randwick would not offer anyone a spot in Colts 1sts without doing pre season first. In fact they are likely to tell you that any club that offers someones a 1sts gig before having him train with the team are mugs. Given Randwick had both 1sts and 2nds colts win premierships last year and more than half of those boys stayed for another year at colts your assertion is beyond believable. For the record the kearns lad is the no. 7 for colts 1sts as he was for the 2nds last year and I doubt your lad would be pushing him out of position.
