Why?
All previous Penrith games are now a 28-0 result - as are all future Penrith byes. In fact Souths lost to Penrith 3rds so they will benefit.
All teams except Gordon get to play the Western Sydney Barbarians = more participation, and the aim is to have more kids PLAYING the game as opposed to a bye.
As for the strength of the Western Sydney Barbarians - well who knows which Penrith players will take up the option of joining? The Plan with this is simple - to give the kids in the west an avenue to keep playing rugby this year.
Turns out I needn’t have worried about the comp points.
Little better than Penrith.
Hore running water for them but playing in the Penrith strip.
This is merely dressing the corpse so we can pay our respects.

Uni obviously need more elite players. There needs to be an investigation.

Congratulations Gordon. Been following Colts for 6-7 years and cannot recall Uni losing 3 grades. Outstanding.

HB, another loss for your lads (3 losses must be some kind of record ) plus Gordon and Manly stumble too. Ladder is compressing except for Randwick.
Best news in colts 1 was effort of West Harbour after a dreadful run of injuries saw some big scores posted against them.

Great game of Colts rugby at Chatswood ovsl between Gordon and Souths with souths winning 36 to 33
The scores might indicate some poor defence but nothing could be further from the truth
2 sides who were not going to accept defeat and went blow for blow.
Some cracking tries by 2 different styles of play.
Souths of the back of a feroucious forward pack and sharp backs and Gordon who are strong at the breakdown and work the phases and are deadly on counter attack.
Intense game played in good spirits
After fuultime Gordon had a lineout on Souths line but Souths were able to steal the ball and kick out.
Its a pity people of power dont understand what a good product they have in colts rugby.

Shannon at 10 controlled the game well at times.
Bo Abra, loosehead (I think) had a good open field game and the scrum held - which is an easts weakness - so first year under full blown scrum laws he could be one to keep an eye on.
Forwards several times looked like they would buckle under the pressure of the uni pack but they held up.
Not much going on wider in either team, though the underrated easts winger Quin won the game with an intercept on full time.
Uni 7 looked good to me - similar size and shape to Pocock.
I’m told the light on woollahra 1 have been aokd for Shute shield.
They’re not, IMO.

Congrats to the Western Sydney Barbarians on their win on the weekend... Small steps but well done.

This gives them 2 wins now (after last week getting the bye vs Penrith which is wonderful irony that this team gets the points for the bye effectively against themselves)

Its a genuine Colts 3 side. A few of the guys have played a few minutes in 1s and 2s through necessity.
Week 1 v Easts the Barbs had no backs and 1 reserve.
Week 2 used the bye to regroup
Last week great numbers at training despite boys at CHS training Thursdays and resting v Norths.
There's not one u20. The older guys mostly at the 11 other clubs now or not playing.
Barbs had 2 u16s and 5 u17s in the starting side. Next week that might be 2 u16s and 8 u17s... wouldn't be many Colts 1 or 2 sides that young would there?

Over the years when ever Sydney Uni colts get mentioned it starts a mountain of discussions and in relation to other clubs it comes up that other clubds should pick up there game, improve there colts program and raise the bar to uni level
This year Uni have the same standard of playing roster as other top 6 clubs and they are 4 wins from 8 games with last weekend Souths putting the cleaners through there 1st Colts. The 52 to 36 scoreline flatters Uni. 10 minutes to go it was 52 to 15
Maybe the other clubs have been running good programs and it was sheer weight of talent that was the factor in unis favour?

They did lose their coach...and some talent to 7s and u20s but I like the way you’re thinking
