Thanx HJ, musta been tight game just reading the article, unlucky for WA boys. Today's game should be a good game as well, Reds v Rebels. Reds seem to have there game sorted up front but we'll see how Rebels defend it!

Looking like the Final of the Curtain Raiser Cup will involve Qld who will most likely be undefeated after round 5.

Home town advantage should go to the "minor premier" but there is no Reds home game in round 6 of the Super Rugby, so its unlikely that they would hire Lang Park just for a Under 20 match.

Would the final be held at Ballymore Stadium?

If NSW are also in the final (they should get over The Force, but not certain for the final as the Rebels won't be a pushover based on their performance against the Reds yesterday), and the ARU want to finish with a curtain raiser, the Waratahs seniors have game at Allianz Stadium in round 6:

Also, given we're talking about a 4 game comp, not sure that a home ground final would really come into play. I expect expediency and pragmatism would rule that luxury out as a reasonable expectation.

Seymour Blitz and Linespeed travelled down to watch the Reds play and lucky to see the U20's. Was a good game. Tongan Thor met his match being put on his backside not once but 3 times. He also sustained an ankle injury in the beginning of the match. The defense of the Rebels was good putting the Reds under pressure. The Reds showed some great rugby and the team to beat. Some great forward play to set up the back line and their moves that cut the Rebels apart. Some injuries to Rebels the 2 and 8 didn't help their cause. But the replacements stepped up with 20 doing well.
It was a good game to watch with the Reds coming from behind to take a commanding lead, then the Rebels came back too late with a great run from 13 to off load to 23 who has some serious speed.
Maybe some changes made a bit earlier by Rebels could have changed the result but the Reds like they have done in the previous games held well in the contest.
The Reds played to the structure and came away with a close result. Onwards to next week to remain undefeated.
The best for Reds was the red head 13, the 11 and the lock. The 10 was sound and directed the team well.
The best for the Rebels was 12 and 13, also the 6 and 7. Also would liked to have seen the 23 on earlier he showed class and one to watch after his try tonight.

Scoreline flatters France. They're regularly a bloody good team at age level, this year is no exception, but they got lucky call or three, and scored a converted try on the siren to blow it out. We're building well, and should be looking to finish.

This match will apparently be played on the new main oval and sandwiched in between the 2nd grade and 1st grade Shute Shield games of Uni v Eastwood.

Prediction: The Rebels proved last week v Qld that they won't be a pushover. It will be a close one, but NSW should prevail to win by less than 7

Saturday 19 March
Queensland U20s v Brumbies Colts
Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
5.10pm

Prediction: The Brumbies pack will be a good match for the Qld fatties, but Qld are all class. It should be tight one, but Qld will pull away to a convincing final score in the last 20 minutes.

Bit of a comedown from being curtain raiser to a Super Rugby game in a massive venue to playing a curtain raiser for a club game, but one has to give credit where it is due. This time the game is actually being played on the main oval and not out in the car park (Kippax Oval --> Allianz Stadium).

I was half thinking that the sense of humour was strong with the NSWRU/Waratahs and that they would schedule this U20 Showpiece" game on the St Johns College Oval.

Hard to disagree with @Front Row Fan's predictions, but I can see NSW having learning from last match where the "Finishers" seemed to take their foot off the throat of the Young Ponies and let in a swag of points late in the game. Hopefully the Finishers don't do the same this week. I think the Vics will match the Gen Blue team up front for much of the match. NSW by 8-15.

The Young Ponies will be happy with their late surge against NSW and will give the Red Peril an almighty scare before the class of Team Red will prevail as they seem to have the killer instinct that the Gen Blue blokes didn't have last game. Reds to win by 15-20.

BMW Australia U20s to play New Zealand in Oceania Rugby U20s Championship.

The BMW Australia U20s will take on New Zealand U20s in a two-Test trans-Tasman battle at the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship (ORUC) at Bond University, Gold Coast in May.

Fans from across the world will have the opportunity to see the next generation of stars with the matches to be live streamed via rugby.com.au and oceaniarugby.com.

The matches will kick off at 6.30pm AEST on Tuesday 3 May and Saturday 7 May respectively.

The junior Trans-Tasman Tests will give both nations crucial preparation ahead of the World Rugby U20 Championship to be hosted in Manchester, England the following month.

BMW Australia U20s Head Coach, Adrian Thompson said: “The Oceania Rugby U20s Championship will give this side an excellent opportunity to test out our arsenal against last year’s U20s Champions, New Zealand.

“This is an important part of their development as Rugby players to get experience playing International opposition before we head to the World Rugby U20s Championship in June.

“Our players have been playing at a high standard throughout the Super U20s Championship and we look forward to the challenge of playing New Zealand.”

ARU General Manager High Performance, Ben Whitaker said: “Playing against New Zealand is the ultimate challenge in Rugby and it will be a great experience for our next generation of Qantas Wallabies to experience a Bledisloe Cup-style clash.

“The Super U20s Championship has been the ideal preparation for our squad, who have played more Rugby this year compared to any other year in preparation for a Test series.”

At last year’s Oceania Rugby U20s Championship Australia fell to New Zealand in the Final 46-29.

The Australian U20s team is the final step in the ARU’s BMW Pathway to Gold program. The elite pathways program is designed to create the next generation of elite representative players for Australian Rugby for both men and women across Sevens and XVs.
