Syd team lists are up for u14s, u17s and u18s: http://www.nswjuniors.com.au . Congrats to all boys selected. Enjoy the experience and hopefully you'll pick up a few useful tips from your coaches along the way.
How do kids playing for another Union get to represent SJRU?

Was there a NSW JRU Under 18 State Championship tournament to select the SJRU U18 team from?

I recognise at least one of the names in the SJRU U18s as having played all their rugby for the last two years in the NSW Premiership Rugbu Union Colts competition.

That's true, but it's of necessity. The same would be true of all sports in regional areas I suspect. We have teams in neighbouring suburbs of roughly equal ability travelling across Sydney to play, but not playing each other. While other sports have local competitions available up to about 15s or 16s. Whether you think they have a valid point or not, the fact is that some people are leaving the sport for these reasons.

Soccer is probably the only football code that is local in my town. League has a smaller geographical area. Only the AFL competition has close to the same amount of travel. It is a big commitment but if a child enjoys their rugby, as a parent I will get them to the game.

Good Qs HJ. With no horse in the 18s race I have no idea, but like the idea there is some sort of pathway for the lads at this age who are not playing Colts/grade. Your observations though suggest disappointingly that this pathway may not be limited to that group.

Expressions of interest sent out to clubs. I nominated a number of players. Very pleased for the two boys from my club picked.

took a little trip down memory lane, just to see how things are going in the juniors - put SJRU into the search engine and behold:

"Under construction" and to be launched November/December 2015. I immediately knew i was back in junior club rugby

Like many things relating to junior rugby it is broken :(.

On the NSWJuniors web site there isn't even a completed result sheet for any of the age groups in the State Championships.

Perhaps we expect too much in this technological world .

It has been a while IS but how has your son's recovery been since he was injured.

Apologies if I got any results wrong. Please feel free to amend or add any results.

Generally most games were scrappy affairs. The 15 min halves made it tough for any teams to get into any rhythm. MNZ started the tourney poorly but seemed to be building their structure as the day progressed.

The 2 country teams look strong and they should be able to select a strong Country team from the talent on display.

Should be a great day at Boronia Park tomorrow with the U17s and U18s Sydney V Country matches. Worth a trip up to HH if you have time.

Apparently the U16s Sydney and Country teams will not be announced until Tuesday evening following "negotiations" with NSW schools  over players eligible for selection under both pathways.

Presumably U14 and U15 Sydney team to be announced on Sunday at the conclusion of the Championship
