I have to disagree. Although he is a twat there was about a two year period where no other hooker came even remotely close to influencing games the way he can.

Not surprised by DuPlesis I said years ago that he and his brother were nothing but cheap shot thugs. There is not doubt that Bismark could have been the best hooker in the world by far, but his penchant for cheap thuggery killed that.

Don't think the thuggery comes cheap. Four weeks. Besides it wasn't a cheap shot, it was a stupid dirty lash out with the boot. Cheap shot is an elbow to the back of the head.

I agree with Blue, especially about Steyn. He has got a massive, massive ego and combined with being a few crayons short of a box, seems to make some terrible on field decisions. I wish we had alternatives but unfortunately I can't see Jean de Villiers coming back in time for the WC. Who to play at 12?

I'm pretty pissed off by that. Exactly the same thing happened to Rory Sidey a couple of years back (a second player influencing a lifting tackle which prevented the tackled player from being safely brought to ground). Rory copped three weeks and Ndungane didn't even land on his head/neck from memory (more the shoulder). What other players bring to the tackle is irrelevant because it doesn't change the risk in that type of tackle- just don't lift.

Don't know where else to post this, but it is feasible that NZ sides could occupy four of the top six spots after this weekend.

yes, all 4 NZ franchises goign great guns.

There is supposedly one other NZ franchise but they may have lost losing franchise status altogether by now and perhaps are known at the NZRFU is simply "that fuckchase".

Any truth to the rumour that the Pitcairn Island Government may be looking to buy the 5th NZ Franchise?

The Pitcairn Polydactyls should buy them out. With all those fingers, some of those Breadfruit-Eaters could at least hold the ball.

^^^^^^ only problem is that the left head never knows what the right head is doing and they both think they're in charge of the 3rd leg so they pretty much end up running around in circles............

Wtf does that mean they're appealing their own decision?

They're disagreeing with the judicial officer's decision so they're getting a panel of judicial officers to review that decision.

I think they will particularly be looking at the original judicial officer deciding that Steyn's tackle only went wrong because other people got involved and it wasn't his fault.

Isn't that half the point of outlawing tackles that go beyond the horizontal? They create a dangerous situation where if something goes wrong they can result in a catastrophic injury. If a tackled player is put in a compromising position and then another defender also gets involved in the tackle, it creates a far greater chance that something will go terribly wrong.

It is the classic case where the initial tackler is trying to pick the player up with a low tackle and the second one driving them to ground and once the player goes beyond the horizontal they have a player driving the top half of their body at the ground.
