Not sure how much publicity this has received (or even what it is called), there is a Schools Under 16 - 7s tournament tomorrow on the Central Coast.
Some of the schools involved are Hunter Sports High,Illawarra Sports High, St Edwards, Hills SHS, Brisbane Water, Nambucca just to name a few.

For some strange reason, the ARU and its affiliates seem to be doing very little to publicise 7s and thus take advantage of our Olympic status.

Very strange indeed. There are many great 7s tournaments down the east coast that isn't getting much coverage from the ARU that are pulling in numbers. You would think that they would highlight this.

I've been coming across a few league boys in the offseason who are gaining an interest in rugby due to having an interest in 7s. Would have been nice to see an open trial similar to the JGC.

There is one - see post no 1 of this thread.

There will be some amazing under 16's players on show tomorrow. 3 sports high schools (Hunter, Illawarra & Hills) and a few strong rugby schools (St Edward's, Stannies etc.) make for great viewing. Morrie Breen Oval, Wyong.

St Edward's are State champs once again! Their Under 16's took out the Sevens title defeating Hunter Sports, Illawarra Sports, Ingleburn, Stannies and then Hills Sports in the final. Their 14's won the 15-a-side Coast to Country cup last term. Well done in what was a great tournament.
Nice of Sir Gordon Tietjens to wish the boys well.

That is a real coup getting Stitch to turn up. Kudos to whomever arranged that.

The boys would be very chuffed having him there, even if he is not our guru.

Did they recognise him for what he has achieved in the world of rugby 7's?

Yeah there were a lot of rugby followers there and he spoke really well before presenting the winners' medals. He has a Wayne Bennett-like presence and articulated the dedication needed to succeed in professional sport, especially sevens rugby. He was all class...for a Kiwi

Any ideas on how you get the gentleman listed on the form to answer the phone to answer queries! I've rung 4 times with no success. Great advertisement for the way NSW RU are running this program. Not!

My son was at the ARU talent search day on Sunday in Sydney in the morning session. He was verbally told he'd be back next Sunday but as yet we haven't received any email.Could be because they've changed their minds or haven't actually sent anything.

An ARU press release said they had 270 kids at session on Sunday. A few stats to analyse. Overall I thought the day was well organised and should've found some talent from what I saw.

Only 40 boys invited today at TG Milner, a number who were not even at the first trial. A number of skills drills and then about 8 games. Of this 40 two teams of 14 will be picked, one youth side and one under 18. Tough day.
