Southlands only chance is sending a few dodgy bluff oysters up to the red and blacks pre match dinner.

Dodgy in what way? Swapped out with Coromandal rock snot? Or bluffies but served other than au natural on a platter of ice with a grind of pepper & just enough lemon juice to make the frills start to curl? God I miss real oysters.

Foxtel's been going apeshit with the storm cells & internet's been up & down as well but I see Northland just got up 30-27 v BOP. Last I saw was just on HT one if the Taniwha getting medicabbed off after getting his head in the wrong place trying to make a tackle. Hope he's OK.

EDIT: "Right on halftime the visitors lost centre Brook Gilmore, who was stretchered off the field after getting his head in an awkward spot when making a tackle, though later he was said to be back up and walking."

Any Taniwha fans out there know if Warren Dunn is related to Eddie & Ian?

Waiopehu, I was saying to son last night I assume he related to Eddie, gotta love the Taniwha rugby dynasties, Dunns ,obviously Goings (bet there at least one Going relative in team), the Pryor boys, there been Priors in Taniwha in 80s, and the Wright boys.
Actually that game turned into a bloody good game last night, I am well impressed with the workrate of Dan Pryor, he never leaves anything on the paddock!

A dozen chocolate fush to the first person who can tell me the last time Taranaki ever lead Auckland 22-9 at any stage of a game, let alone half time.

Who's the main play-by-play commentator? He annoys the fuck out of me. Too excited.
Ken Laban Gwerty, I used to be not to keen on him, but have like him now, he a commentator that actually knows his rugby, knows the players quite well because he actually goes to a lot of club and schoolboy rugby, actually a real rugby man. I quite enjoy that commentary team now I used to Ken, think Richard Turner is good comments man, and really quite enjoy Melodie Robinson, who is also an ex player with a bloody good knowledge of game.

Counties thrashing the hapless Wellingtonians, 41-0 after 49 minutes. Pulu has grabbed a double, and is looking really sharp. Two of CM's tries with 14 men too.
Won't be long before we see Pulu as the third AB halfback, imho of course

Manawatu have put Waikato out of SF contention, 22-20.

The mighty 'nua finally get beaten, 19-12 by comp leaders Buller in Westport. Leaves 'nua 4th & still a decent shot at a Meads Cup SF, probably away though, as they've got South Canty (currently 3rd) & Poverty Bay (2nd) to come, both away.

CM have their 50, Tim Nanai-Williams goes over nearing to the posts. Kick is good, FT 55-7.

Great win by CM. Just wish some of their players would play like that in the soup comp. Mind you, their opposition was shite.

Noticed 7's Stowers today, and Lam yesterday playing-Wonder how wise that it given Gold Coast 7's is in a couple of weeks. Are the Oz 7's players playing in the NRC, or are they wrapped in cotton wool?

Fair comment WO. Wouldn't be surprised however if Lam sacrifices the riches and accolades of being a Blues player and reverts back to 7's for the Olympics (hoping actually)

You wonder if Chris Boyd could get the sack before the season? Hurricanes fans must not be enjoying this.

The ones in Manawatu & Hawkes Bay, currently running 1st & 2nd in the Championship & in line to take Wellington's place in the Premiership, possibly don't much give a shit; those in Taranaki, meanwhile, are possibly thinking that defecting to the Chiefs was a master stroke.

North Harbour 28-25 v Hawkes Bay but at home so no Shield, didn't see much of it as was watching the Junior Warriors (who won btw, thereby making it 4 GF's in 5 years, shame the seniors can't emulate them).

I do worry for Wellington, mind you what the hell they doing selecting a wing with christian name of Ambrose!! Christ almighty I think it a case of going around to his parents place knocking on door and smacking them in the face with a dead fish!!!
You sure gotta wonder how pleased Rebels supporters are getting shot of Woodward, certainly continues to give a very good impression of being a waste of space, mind you Garden-Bachop certainly tries to compete for title!!
Anyway have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Harbour-Hawkes Bay match, some bloody good rugby played there at times!!

Trafalgar Park in Nelson is as pretty as a picture. I love it that the crowd can stand right up behind the advertising hoardings along the touch line.

Beauties of taking footy to the regional centres.

Plenty of water apparently (you could see it splashing up in places) but the playing surface looked in tip top condition and didn't muddy up.

Tasman Makos win over Otago Scarfies 32 - 24.

The Canterbury Lambs are starting a new bloke from the Southbridge club at #10 today.

Looks like he may be quite good but he hasn't played ITM cup for 5 years.

Commentators seem to think he may be destined for higher level footy.

Loving the Makos style of footy & yes, Trafalgar Park has gotta be one of the best rugby venues in NZ, if not the world (I was born there so may be a little biased). Looks pretty good at night, too:
