Injury list is in our wiki HERE.

This is mostly for people doing their fantasy rugby picks but it is also nice to remember the fallen. Feel free to put in certainties if you know them but also people who might not play.

Certainties not to play week 1: Lakky Turner (out for the season- balls!), Cooper (knee still fucked), Rocky (hamstring still fucked), Vickerman (still recovering from shoulder surgery)

McCabe will definitely miss week 1 (shoulder recovery)... Should hopefully be back for the Brumbies' second match in round 3...

Siliva is also out for week 1 (knee recovery)... unsure how many weeks he'll miss though?

Toua is for a month to 6 weeks.
Wallace-Harrisons must not be too serious because nothing has been said about it.
Fainga'a should be back for the first round, but may not start.

Superxv site says....

Woodcock (Blues) is out for the first few rounds,
Nonu (Blues) still in Japan (so no injury but wont be around),
Messam (Chiefs) may be out for rd1 at least,
McCaw (Crusaders) out for some time,
Dan Carter (Crusaders) - on track but may miss early rd's,
Guildford (Crusaders) again not an injury but still out,
Hoeata (Highlanders) 1st two months of Super Rugby season with ripped pec muscle,
As for the Canes I cant find anyone listed with an injury

Of course I am only going by their main news articles so there could be some more but these are the main ones I found.

And for the pedants out there, the hamstring is not "a tendon" either.
Well, technically there are 5 tendons from muscles either extending the hip or (mainly) flexing the knee which are collectively often referred to as "hamstrings", although some use the term to refer to the muscle bellies themselves. Depends upon what you read to get your definition. So everyone's probably a bit right.

Do some of those muscles connect to bones directly without a tendon? I would have thought there were 7 tendons, on three muscles. Cyclo, I don't mean to be disagreeable, it's a genuine question.

I've only ever referred to the whole collective (muscles and tendons) as the hamstrings, and I was under the impression most of the injuries were in the muscle belly (or muscle/tendon conenction)

You guys are stupid, just remember the song! the leg bone's connected to the knee bone, the knee bone's connected to the hip bone, the hip bone's connected to the stomach bone....

Muscles generally attach by tendons if they are levers; some muscles attach directly to bone, but usually by a tendinous attachment (i.e. similar tissue but over a broad area). Having moved away from legs to prostates and such 12 years ago, I can't recite all the muscles and respective tendons as I used to be able to. Alas, the brain fades.
I think most people, like you, use hamstrings for the whole lot, and yes, most of the injuries probably are in the muscle belly / tendon area or interface. But the term "strings" initially referred to the tendon; the thing that one used to cut to hamstring someone.
