we're playing much better, hope we can keep it up

So we've kept Godwin as our kicker - why? Lucas must be injured because he kicked well last game.

Godwin struggling with his kicks but has rolled the Meatloaf (2 outta 3 ain't bad)

Merriman with a great touchfinder!

G I L L !!!

Nice try, actually unconverted from out wide even though the kick was awarded (after one flag went up and one flag was down from the ARs). A free 2 points for Aus.

3 - 13 Aus

Australia playing the better with the ball, although getting munched in the scrums.

A pity - Godwin misses another penalty on HT..

3 - 13 to Aus at HT (need a lead as they'll be into the wind in the 2nd half).

Yeah it seems crazy to persist with Godwin as a kicker. I think the rest of his game has been pretty solid though. Kicked out of hand well, defended well, took a good high ball, passed fairly well.

England rumble over with a rolling maul to score. Non-existent maul defence from the Aussies.

Too many Aus mistakes gifted them possession up field.

11 - 13 now

England nearly get another rumbled maul try, just got pinged for obstruction.

Lineout not thrown straight from Maile Ngauamo. Australia making dumb mistakes, gifting possession.

Better from Aus. Pick and go attacking the tryline.

YC for pommy winger Yarde for offside.

Fwd pass from Godwin.

Try?

Frisby into touch in goal.

Penalty to England

14 - 13

with 15 to go

Lineout not thrown straight from Latu. Australia making dumb mistakes, gifting possession.

Liam Gill pinged in a 50/50 call going for a steal.

Eng 17 - 13

Latu fluffs ANOTHER lineout throw, England win the ball.

Latu fluffs another lineout throw.

Latu finally throws in for a scrappy lineout win. Aus with ball in hand... Pick and go... Eventually, Latunipulu knocks on.

Dan Robson knocks on in his own English 22. Last chances for Aus now with 3 mins to go. Dumb kick from Faalavaau who needed to keep ball in hand ...

Seuteni doesn't find touch with a penalty... Error upon error.

Two penalties to Aus in injury time but Cummins finally knocks on. Game over. Australia tried hard but deserved no better than 8th in this tournament. England get 7th.

The final between SA & NZ has been excellent in the first 20 minutes. Lots of pace and power from SA countered by some elusive running from NZ. Score is 6-3 to SA but both could have scored a try. An excellent break by NZ from their own 22 looked a certain try but poor handling under no pressure saw the ball dropped by the winger. SA worked a great position to get over the try line but were held up by NZ.

It's great to see such a large crowd at the final, well done to SA on giving the game a fitting venue in Newlands.

The last 20 of the first half descending into a bit of a kick fest. One of those kicks lead to a NZ lineout which that took quickly and caught SA napping. This lead to them going over for the first try after some good running and offloading.

SA were the better team in the first half but they go in behind 10-9. NZ have made the most of their chances and have defended well to keep SA out.

Been an action packed 1st 20 minutes of the 2nd half. 2 red cards, one each for an incident involving hair pulling and punching. SAs 1st started with a big mistake by them. Poor handling ended with them being caught behind their own line. But them demolished the NZ scrum and won a penalty. That lead to a length of the field break. A grubber kick and a foot race later, which their scrum half won and they were back ahead.

Since then they've scored a monster drop goal and have just gone over for their 2nd try. They now lead 22-13 and it looks like NZs record is about to fall.

Congratulation to SA on a historic and very well deserved win. Final score was SA 22 NZ 16. NZ looked dangerous in patches but SA were the better team over the 80 minutes.

Wow stoked, great win and solid at that with 60% plus possession. Serfontein certainly justified his award as player of the tournament. Any relation to divan PB?

A wonderful spectacle from the Boks and AB's, so much talent on both sides. A real cliff hanger right to the death with the Boks holding out a valiant NZ team. The forwards from both team absolutely belted each other all game with the Boks just ahead, while the Boks backs were brilliant, although their wingers were fragile in defence. The try scored by no 12 close to the end sealed it for the Boks who ran out deserved winners. Rugby of the highest standard, unlike the Oz rabble. So many poor selections before we stepped on the plane compounded by even poorer selections on the park meant that we were never in the hunt. Eigth in the world does not bode well for the future of Australian rugby.

Nucifora is methodically accumulating a great coaching and selection record for Australian teams.

Guarantee there'll soon be media leaks in effect blaming the players for this debacle.

Great to see the Boks rise to the top over those from the Land of darkness - congratulations
