I think it's more about how hard it is to choose the right type of player at a younger age. This is much harder as there is always gone be those massive boys in younger years who stop growing and suddenly the rest of the pack catches up. Joseph Sua'ali'i for example was playing kings 1sts at 14...

Found this clip of the 1984 Joey's first XV in the prime of the golden age of GPS glory. Lucky enough to know some of the fellas in this squad very well Mark Malloy and Paul Tonkin. Great time to be a Joeys schoolboy! -John

@Joker Wanted to query you on this discussion I had with my boys. Whats been the biggest change in GPS rugby with how it's played? Personally think it's become more of a backs game relying more on speed and technical skill rather then the physical forwards game i played back yonder year. Excited...

@Joker You'd probably have the best opinion on this? I'm sure you played against some strong grammar squads. -John

Hoping for the same Gus. As I mentioned earlier and I'm sure you're aware they posed a much bigger threat within the 50s and 60s and were still competitive into the 2000s. My father played against their 1967 premiership squad so I'm hoping to see a turn around of their program.

Anderson on the wing is a joke. The build on that boy demands some exposure to the rucks. Could be a key player in the forwards. Don't think you should be individually using photos either mate -John

Not at all. Been familiar with Rex's game for years. I just think this pick for a boy coming into his first year in GPS was a great spot especially given the talent of other boys familiar with the game. Rex has been the cornerstone of that Shore program and i think you're misreading this or are...

Couldn't agree more. Grammar used to be a force to be reckoned with within the comp. It's sad seeing their program decrease as the school shifts towards a more academic direction. I hope this trend continues and that boy aught to be extremely proud of himself.

Who do we think are some snubs from this year's squads though is my query? Personally, William Hodge from View throws straight as an arrow! Understand he's only a few games into his 1s career but still see him as a great talent. The Swamp seems in safe hands! But they'll never climb the hill if...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

As a proud old boy of the boys in cerise who is still heavily invested in their great program I'd see View and Them to be levels above the comp. Saying that the development of the shore squad with some new players is scary. However, the only advantage I see for the view lads is the fact they've...
