    Shute Shield 2019

Uni v Norths on 7Two. A big showing by Gordon over Easts could see them right in line for the Club Championship. Also sitting on top of Colts comp. Pretty good year for the Stags this year, wot?

    Shute Shield 2019

I don't want the Shute Shield or any other club competition to rule the world. Nor am I suggesting or implying that any club or other does or does not have the means to be self-supportive. It will be terribly interesting to see how the EDRUFC use the cash from North Ryde RSL... What I seek is an...

    Shute Shield 2019

Yeah, the ongoing ignorance and utter arrogance. I'll not pay to watch the Wallabies. My annual membership for my club, with a guest, equates to just my one WB ticket for one WB match. F..k the national side that consistently underperforms, underdelivers, strips my club of its players and...

    Shute Shield 2019

For all the flak RA have been copping for over four years now (The Pulver/Cheika/Castle dynasty), you'd think they look at strategies to re-engage/reignite support across the major rugby states. How hard would it be to slip a couple of hundred thou' to each major competition in the eastern...

    Shute Shield 2019

Eastwood teams with the Batger brothers only had good memories... The Woods were simply formidable under Hugh Perrett. That 2011 GF team simply perfect (though Nick Batger injured if memory serves).

    Shute Shield 2019

I think it's Uni making sure each of their Super Rugby players qualify properly for Finals... HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) flown over to SA on standby so won't feature again.

    Shute Shield 2019

Then Gordon going one better than last meeting is a cert!

    Shute Shield 2019

Ah, but with Benny Batger at the helm, he'll be unlikely to want his memories of Concord tarnished. He has been a bit of a surprise as a 1st Grade coach this year. Player to coach - especially at your own club - is never an easy transition. And yes, Manenti will have had a hand in that, but he...

    Shute Shield 2019

Nick Phipps and Lachie Swinton named to start. J.Gordon, HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) and Matt Philip most likely on the bench. Southern will get a whoopin', not 'cos the Super Rugby players are back, just 'cos they've played like busteds all year. Shame 'cos its SDRC 30th Birthday and a big match day for them. Battle of the...

    Shute Shield 2019

Really not convinced that Uni are Premiership material after fielding a near Super Rugby side today and struggling to win against a standard Easts side (no Mack Mason) by just 10 points (3 tries to 2). Nice to see Matty Philip run on in Hoops again. Nicky Phipps with a few minutes too. Stags...

    Shute Shield 2019

Without doing the math for Finals, Uni would have to lift in consistency to make the Big Dance this year. That recent loss to Warringah put things in perspective. The Rats with a 51 point turnaround since the last meeting doesn't bode well for the big match-ups. Interesting to see if Easts lift...

    Shute Shield 2019

Unusual lower order. Expected much more from Manly, Easts and Randwick at the beginning of the season. Gordon not really too surprising to see near the leaders, given the attention to coaching, recruitment and retention (and their Colts performance last year). Hope this continues into next year...

    Shute Shield 2019

Uni has named Jake Gordon in 9 and Matty Philip on the bench.

Not surprised to see one of the Red Cards went to Uni 6, Swinton. Serial offender.

Wouldn't dare go near another Kiwi coach of an Aus conferenc side. EVER. (Unless they're the best). (Which he's not).

    Shute Shield 2019

I think a centralised training facility - say Lidcombe Oval - and have that remain a home-ground for Grade, then use 1st XV facilities at schools and communities throughout the Sydney basin for Colts - Newington, Trinity, Cranbrook, Hurlstone Ag, Merrylands, Latham, Moore and Centennial Parks...

Ah, I missed that. And a win, too. Good to have him back running around.
