Wales v Australia, Sunday 21st 4.30 am ADST.

Well we beat NZ in Sydney and Wales in the pool game before England (with 13 players and a huge defensive effort remember?), Scotland in the QF, and we won the tri nations that year so I'm assuming we beat both SAF and Arg. I could be wrong about that and I'll give you France & Ireland, but...
  2. KOB1987

Wales v Australia, Sunday 21st 4.30 am ADST.

He was, I can't remember the circumstances of that selection but there was a reason for it and from memory he just played an offload game and left the kicking and distributing to Burke (I think it was?). Which would have made him look even more average as a 10! There are plenty of blokes who...

    Waratahs 2022

Yes but at least he was a coach in the Waratahs system!
  4. KOB1987

I think because Kerevi is both big and effective size is seen as the key to our issues at 12. But you're right, it's difficult to pinpoint a heavyset 12 who was a regular Wallaby starter before him. Not to forget we beat every top tier nation on the planet only 6 years ago with a 10 Foley 12...

Birth name Matthew James Giteau Date of birth 29 September 1982 (age 39) Place of birth Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Height 178 cm (5 ft 10 in) Weight 85 kg (13 st 5 lb; 187 lb)

    Waratahs 2022

Ah I see, fair enough. However, I think the criteria is that they came totally through the NSW system and then played for the Wallabies, I don't think it should matter who his dad is.

    Waratahs 2022

Bell is a miss? He was capped for Australia as a 19 year old in arguably the most technically and physically demanding position on the field (by that I mean it requires high levels of both), and the position that the vast majority of players don't reach their prime until they are in their mid...

Or you don't have it and can do other shit exceptionally well.
  9. KOB1987

Wales v Australia, Sunday 21st 4.30 am ADST.

I do tend to agree with this premise. However they can both play footy. That’s the massive gap we have currently. Hunter Paisami is 172cm, albeit 90kg.
  10. KOB1987

Wales v Australia, Sunday 21st 4.30 am ADST.

I tend to agree with the others here, he’s a converted 12. You blokes had your own issues at 10 and he just happened to be the best fit, and that then fortuitously translated to a gig as Wallabies 10 for the same reason. I’d be surprised if they don’t have a look at Harrison and possibly Gordon...

Beale probably plan B, if it was a super game I’d say that it is Foketi, not sure about a test match though. He’d be plan C though.

    Wallabies 2023

Lonergan and Mcinerny ( I think) are native Canberrans so the logical solution would be for Fainga'a to return home to NSW. It seems that mackellar rates their maul skills immensely so it should suit all parties.
  13. KOB1987

    Wallabies 2023

I thinking he was focusing on the 'wide open' positions.

It sounds like there won’t be too many unforced changes, Rennie sticking to his guns with continuity. Alalaatoa and Tupou back in, Latu to start to cover some of Hoopers on ball presence, Samu at 7 and Swinton taking his spot on the bench.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Possibly, horse people are horse people for life. Campdrafting, barrel racing, etc are more analogous to a junior competition, but it's not like their going to put a bunch of 12 year olds on a 550kg animal at let them loose around a racetrack at 60 km/h.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The junior pathways come more through the equestrian area, eg pony club, campdrafting etc, there are apprenticeships, and there still exists an amateur competition. It would exist without gambling but the prize money would be a lot lower, although sponsor ship would likely become the main...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The inference would be crowds and viewership. and yeah it is. The horses and riders are all athletes. You don’t have to like it but if motor racing qualifies then horse racing certainly does. However, for this exercise I’d say confining it to team sports is a better metric.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It’s probably more a complementary product to be honest, if there is such a thing. Lots of people used to go from Randwick to the SFS for the Tahs, and I’ve seen a similar correlation in Brisbane. Racing is definitely tier 1 though, the gambling dollar would verify that.

He plays a very similar style to Hooper though.

    Super Rugby 2022

Someone mentioned on the Brumbies thread (before the draw came out) that one game would have to be played at Manuka due to a clash. Presumably it’s that one, and in that case an afternoon match would make sense.
