SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

Sometimes I get excited about a loig match to give me something to watch, particularly on a Sunday afternoon. 90% of the time I am disappointed and don't even watch the whole game, the other 10% of the time admittedly I nail a cracker.

    Waratahs 2023

Year 9 actually. He signed a professional contract with a sporting body and like any paying kid at the school he had the right not to play rugby. Neither he nor the school were happy that an outside influence forced that decision on him. You can trust me that he loved playing rugby and I...

I have had similar thoughts. I am keeping an open mind, I was livid after the Italy game but once everything is put into perspective there were some pretty good performances on this tour, and some definite shining lights unearthed. However, I still think Rennie gets too many free rides from...

I was just about to edit, I completely forgot about him! Point is that Gordon/Donaldson has a bit more glue than Tate/Donaldson. In this compromised position we are in I can understand them going for a known combination. Gordon, McDermott, Donaldson and Lolesio were all going to be in the 23...

huh? Yeah he does - Harrison was toe to toe with him before he got injured but it's been exclusively Donaldson since then

The Gordon selection might have a bit to do with Donaldson being at 10.

So I think we will now be forced to do what I suggested the previous page sans Hooper: 6. Frost 7. Samu 8. Holloway Ned and McReight on the bench

I'm referring to our version. I'd be interested to know what the conversion rate is against said test teams this season. As I said there is a place for it just not every fucking penalty.

Yes but it’s not effective at test level, mostly because it’s the only thing we do off a penalty in our own half that we don’t take a shot at goal. As Le Cheese and BR are saying, it’s important to have it in our arsenal, there is no problem with that, but we need some variations in there as well.

Also, every time we get a penalty can we not kick it to the corner and attempt to score off a driving maul off the lineout. It's kinda predictable now, not to mention boring.

National U16 and U19 match discussion.

I wondered the same but am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume there are some discussions going on in the background. Its a waste of resources otherwise.

A wildcard option could be for Frost to start at 6 and Holloway at 8, Neville and Swain in the row, Ned on the bench. Its a bit Brumbies heavy though, hence it will probably happen.

    Wallabies 2023

Excellent work there Reg. Just out of interest because he is a key player but isn't mentioned at all, where does Michael Hooper fit within that analysis?

I did consider naming this thread Australia A v Wales. However, we’ve shown that even with almost a whole 23 unavailable we can mix it with the best, and Wales aren’t going great either. Hopefully we can put them to the sword and finish 2022 on a high note. Whats the likely team, and more...
