We needed one more outside back but taking a punt on a 17 year old is not what I had in mind, particularly as he's a centre first and foremost and we more needed a squaddie to cover 14/15. Good that we have him locked up, but questionable if it was as the expense of a full squad spot (money...

Plus the Coles one was even worse

Yeah in Bled 3, I too picked Carter as the slow midfield defender who made the AB's try scoring opportunity, which frustratingly they almost always ruthlessly take. The Cory Jane try happened right in front of me at Suncorp and as it was unfolding I saw Read just pick out Sam and just go for...

Dunno, SBW and Robbie Fruean ran around for the Crusaders a few years back.

Will be very interesting. I think TGC will retain the team (those available) from Bled 3 bar the inclusion of Horwill in the starting side, Genia on the bench and injury replacement for Higgers (could be Hodgson or McMahon or even Jones if they believe the line out is an area of focus, which is...

    Reds 2015

I read through the press release. The impression I got is that there is going to be a shit load of stuff going on at Ballymore next year. The breakdown seems to be as follows Reds Super Rugby Squad of 35 (not sure if 5 of those count as "EPS" with the injury stipulation. I don't think so). Outside of...

    Wallabies v Barbarians - 1/11/14 (Twickenham)

Agreed, James did what he does and he did it quite effectively. What he didn't do is carry wide, which he historically hasn't done that much and perhaps was not instructed to (as Carter obviously was) or just didn't find that opportunity in the game. His carries in the tight channels were...

Ok so it is still 30 + 5, then EDS outside of that.

I'd be fine with starting AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Horne though with Henry on the bench.

    Wales v Australia

I don't see why Lilo's ability to cover 15 would give him the inside track ahead of Cooper for a bench spot considering AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) will start and slide back there if something happens to Izzy, and Foley will play who can play 15 at a pinch. Cooper should be on the bench. Henry did some really good...

    Wallabies v Barbarians - 1/11/14 (Twickenham)

A good hit out I too was a bit disappointed when Cooper bottled a try by throwing a long ball when if he'd just fixed his man and shifted the try would have been crated for the winger on the outside. Foley should start next week, Quade needs more time to shake off the rust. With Genia, I...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

You're forgetting 2012 when he tore a meniscus in the knee that he later popped his ACL in. That was during the tackle that mug is referring to. It's also likely as mug said that the repair of that may have not been perfect and been a factor in the 2nd injury (the first ACL).

Jack Payne is a tight forward we should have hung onto at the expense of some schoolboy winger in the EDS. Simple as that

Beat me to it Reg. So this EDS is basically a very extended version of what was previously the EPS? Is there still at EPS? Is there and EPS, EDS, WTS, U20's and NRC feeder squad all happening at Ballymore? How does it all fit?! Somebody please explain

He's gone full experimental mode....I kind of like it but it fills me with terrible memories of Samoa 2011 and Scotland 2012

    Wallabies v Barbarians - 1/11/14 (Twickenham)

Genia has been ready to go for a lot longer than Cooper. In a lot of ways it makes sense to start Genia, because it's a good time to give him an opportunity (with Phipps having played himself into the ground for a while and likely to start the next week vs wales) but pair him with Foley just so...
