    Heineken Cup 2010/11

I'm really miffed at this pay tv farce going on with the rugby. Basically you have to buy 3 packages to see a bare smattering of matches, which is especially irritating given that I only got Austar in the first place for the rugby. Am I right btw in thinking that King George doesn't seem to be...

The Wallabies - sprinters not stayers

Bruce, have you looked into kettle-bell training at all? It seems to be the next big thing in the core-strength training world. Seems like something that'd really suit rugby players. It kept the Russians on top of the olympic wrestling heap for decades.

World XV (Or Earth's XV, Terran XV, whatever you like)

It's a shame the dinosaurs have retired, they'd make a great forward pack. And velociraptors on the wings (since we know how they feel about attacking from the flanks).

    Wallaby Injuries

Possibly a dumb question, but I take nothing for granted given Robbie's form. Did he happen to mention where he's planning to play Ben Alexander?

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

I guess I've come to believe that our ability to lose adapts to both the level of our opponents and the talent of our squad. Sometimes we need to play brilliantly to just lose. Sometimes we need to play absolutely crap to just lose. Either way we manage more often than not. This trinations...

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

Re injuries. We had Horwill, Palu, TPN, Alexander, Smith and Hynes last year and still came last, even with NZ in a slump. We had arguably the best scrum in the world and still came last. We even managed to lose to Scotland and draw with Ireland. The only thing we have now that we didn't...

    Gnostic's - Wallaby Player ratings V ABs Sydney 11/09/2010

Yeah I noticed that last week the same rater blamed Genia for the pass Beale threw back over the dead ball line.

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

Still not a farken word about the match after the preview on rugby365. Poor form.

    Wallabies vs Boks Bloemfontein

Nothing post-match has been put up on rugby365 I note with amusement. No match report, no captains' speeches, no player ratings. They're taking this badly. I imagine they had to rewrite their articles a few times over the course of that match, but they always seem to manage it when their boys...

The guessing game: return of Vickerman

Some people seem down on Vicks, but I'm pretty bloody happy. A tighthead lock who's top drawer at set-pieces, and a known non-seaguller at the breakdown. Just what we've been asking for. Him and Horwill will make an excellent physical 2nd row, and with Sharpe on the bench our locking stocks...

AUSTRALIAN MEDIA NOT HELPING (Including you Scarfman).

A tally of 'final' warnings per country could be fun.

AUSTRALIAN MEDIA NOT HELPING (Including you Scarfman).

No great surprises there, gagger. So does Paddy have his position for life? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? The only extenuating circumstance I can put forward is that NZ have played most of their matches at home, where you typically get the rub of the green from refs. Not that...

Has Woodencock been cited or not?

Have to agree with MR, unfortunately. Not as bad as I first thought, though still clearly worth a yellow. I'm sure Paddy had a few not-that-serious words with Kaplan afterwards. Maybe something like "Yeah, I know I told you not to give out any yellow cards for that game unless they were red...

    Wallaby tactics

If he passes it too far in front of the forward he's aiming for he's probably worried said forward will let it go right by him. I saw at least one forward do exactly that last night (Sharpe or Elsom IIRC) with the result that the ball went into touch.

My Wallaby Ratings - V All Blacks Chrischurch 07/08/2010

JOC (James O'Connor) looks more like an inside centre with his quick stepping and good acceleration. He's looking much better at getting through traffic these days than Gits, though that isn't saying much. Personally I think Rod Davies should be brought into the squad as a winger for his pure pace. He's fit...

    Wallaby tactics

Maybe he's heard all this talk about what a "calm" player he is and decided that means he can take his time. He isn't dawdling, he's being calm.

Wallabies v All Blacks Christchurch Sat 7 August, 2010

We'll be crushed by wet-weather tactics. Moore should really be starting, with Fainga'a coming on 50-60 mins in. Our scrum will crumple. They may even throw in some embarrassingly effective mauls. One player will be sent off for ruck vigilanteism and probably another one for scrum...
