Eddie Jones rugby and the Brave Blossoms

I know one of the original 4 kamikaze units was called the cherry blossoms. Maybe they're making reference to that.

    RWC 2015 Pools

They're making such a big song and dance about turning down Wales' absurd offer to host the Eng vs Wales match at Millennium that you have to wonder if it's to provide justification for a 'consolation' offer to let them host Aus. Otherwise why on earth would you bother lining up suits to spell...

    RWC 2015 Pools

Apparently the board who decides if Wales get to play any of their matches at Millennium includes both JON and the Welsh Rugby Union chairman. Not sure what to make of that. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/dec/04/wales-world-cup-millennium-stadium

    RWC 2015 Pools

Australia England Wales Huge Lubricated Banana-Skin 1 Just-In-Case Points Differential Lifter No easy pool games for us. It might be the sort of pool we need to avoid getting-ahead-of-ourselves performances like the one we put out against Ireland.

    Wallabies v. Wales - 1 Dec

Didn't stop the Poms or ABs from doing it.

    Wallabies v. Wales - 1 Dec

I watched the NZ vs Eng match first and am now watching Aus vs Wales. The main difference I'm seeing in how NZ/Eng played is that they get a lot more distance in the tackle, either by leg drive or from supporting players binding and driving them on. And not just their forwards. Our guys flop...

    ABs vs Poms

It's nice to see England pull out that sort of performance against someone who isn't us.

    ABs vs Poms

This 6N is going to be a cracker. England with their tails up, France in great form, Ireland a bit of an unknown quantity but looking bullish, Wales defending champs and hungry for redemption. Scotland will no doubt have done a lot of soul-searching and will be fired up from having their coach...

    Wallabies v. Wales - 1 Dec

Bit harsh to blame Moore for the scrum troubles against Italy. He was part of the first scrum of the day that pushed right through the guts of the blue scrum. It was mostly when fatcat came off (pretty early IIRC) that our scrum went to shit. Which has happened a lot with Slipper on the...

    Wallabies v. Wales - 1 Dec

I'd put Wales as favourites for this this. We won our last 2 games against them by bugger-all, and that was at home. They'll be out for revenge as well as redemption. Not having their starting tight 5 will hurt them at the scrum though, but so will us not having Timani. Who's the ref?

Ewen McKenzie labels the ARU contracting process as 'Frustrating, Difficult'

I wonder if Genia is waiting to see how QC (Quade Cooper)'s negotiation goes? If it falls through that'd free up a "substantial" amount of dosh (according to Nuci) which he might like first crack at.

    Australia v England @ Twickers 17 Nov 2012

Because our handling can't get much worse, but maybe theirs can?

Australia v. France 10 Nov 2012 Stade de France, Paris

Everyone looked terrified of running away from their support. Which isn't surprising given the quality of their support.

    Australia v England @ Twickers 17 Nov 2012

I'm also in favour of 6. Timani 7. Hooper 8. Palu with Pocock on the bench. If I knew Pocock is up to form I'd start him at 7 and have Hooper on the bench to run at tired bodies around the 60 min mark. But the poms will just rumble the ball up and pile numbers at the breakdown, like they...

    End of Year Tour 2012

Still no match threads? Is that part of the new policy?

    Scrum Talk

Being publicly endorsed by JON is just about the kiss of death on a hit-less scrum. Should've played it like Brer Rabbit. "No, no, ANYTHING but the hitless scrum! That will make some scrums too dominant!"

    Scrum Talk

Is the power hit as big in France? From what I've read Carl Hayman had to adjust his technique a lot when he moved to France. Apparently there's much more wrestling/dark arts involved there, which makes me wonder if the power hit is as dominant.

    End of Year Tour 2012

Yeah I'm warming up to the idea of someone who kicks so well. It was nice to watch a game where you're not thinking "50-50" when there's a bit of angle to the kick.

South African Rugby - Ongoing Stupidity

I think if SARU made the boks unavailable for CC selection there'd be far more outraged howls at the devaluing of that august competition than there would be philosophical shrugs. From what I've read there's already a lot of resentment towards JON and SANZAR about the scheduling of superugby...
