    Refereeing decisions

I don't believe he lifted his elbow prior to contact, it was at his hip and he lifted it after contact to clear the defender from his path. No issue from me. It looks bad because the defender got himself belted.

    Refereeing decisions

Play on for me. As a player I was always coached to present "hard points" to the defender - ie shoulder, forearm, elbow, hip, knees and to tense up on contact - exactly what this guy did. I reckon that's an over-reaction from an inexperienced referee on the big stage.

Has anyone seen the Jebb Sinclair Red Card in the Canada v Scotland match? Sets a very dangerous precedent. Forget the referee's name, but he's a kiwi super rugby referee. Red card to Red #6 for "leading with the elbow".

Righto Stupid:) It's a mathematical possibility for Young and Griffith to both make the Premier Division, but for me there are way too many variables that will affect the outcome for the teams that are in the mix. The poor coaches at the moment must have their abacus working overtime as the...

Congrats to Charles Callaghan, Jesse Uhr and Jonno Lally for their efforts in making the NSW CHS 2nd XV. My mail says that Charles Callaghan has earnt a call up to the 1st XV, great news for some local kids and a great reward for their efforts. All the best over the next few weeks guys!

    Refereeing decisions

As a "community level" referee it is amazing the number of coaches and players who have never heard if the game management guidelines! They are a really good coaching tool/handout for players and I would argue mandatory reading for all captains.

To look at this from another angle, when will players from SIRU get the chance to be coached by a Level III coach AND play with two Fijian Internationals? What greater chance to learn from players who have tread the path? If I was playing, I'd be buzzing at the chance to play in that team.

From what I've seen, he's playing well enough. The reality is that he is a class above the competition but is playing within the competition which is good to see. If he was to really turn it on, I don't think there would be much that guys in this area could do to stop him. I wonder if he'll...

#SIRU2014 Round Eight Preview: Hi Folks, My apologies for the slackness of my replies lately but I haven't had the time to write up a preview and this week is no exception. Griffith (4) v CSU (2) will be tipped as Match of the Round by the paper, but I would argue that Aggies (7) v Young...
