Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Is that even necessary considering that Slipper and Kepu have packed the scrum on both sides effectively (and arguably better than Alexander on both) at test level and Greg Holmes, whilst being talked about as a selection as a reserve tight head initially came to the fore as a loosehead prop...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Surely Albert is a fullback considering his expertise with space and time.

    Sydney Subbies 2015

Not sure if they are enjoying the travel or not (their furthest game would take about 1 hour of travel time so not too bad) but Hornsby have been competitive. Firsts are sitting mid-table, seconds are in 4th spot and 3rds are leading the comp. If the rest of the Central Coast rugby community are...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

HJ, remembering the dockyard brawl the lineout was prior to lifting being allowed I would be against your suggestion. As to the time wasting it comes down to two factors - coaching and urgency. As a young rugby player I was taught you had to get to the lineout faster than the opposition -...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Scrubber, don't forget that effective scrummaging takes eight players working in sync. If our backrow continues to meerkat then our scrum woes will continue.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Hang on a second gents (and ladies). This is an AUSTRALIAN rugby site. We are not allowed to talk about the merits of props. It is supposed to be about which 5/8, centre or wing we should have in the extended squad. All this talk about props and work rate (whilst making an old prop like me...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

What were the contributing factors though? Foley's 10-man rugby game plan Poor backline coaching at the force Quality inside players Disheartened after being in the Wallaby set-up all of last year and not receive a minute's game time (even against the BaaBaas). If a guy like KHunt can make the...

    Shute Shield 2015

Done That, I don't think they meant that 'tahs players play for SS clubs this weekend. The idea is that the players are present at the ground signing autographs and mixing with the supporters.

    Shute Shield 2015

Great win by Southern yesterday. The 7Two coverage is improving, though not enjoying Cam Shepherd's commentary contribution - though it is a lot better than Papworth. Why did the two teams play each other when they last met 3 week's ago?

What you mean like Rupert did back in the nineties?

Alternatively fp they are 'flat' after winning the title last year. It happens often in sport whereby a team invests all of their emotional energy in winning the title the next season their performances drop.

    Shute Shield 2015

interesting point re ball carrier holding on with one hand. I have always thought that for a player to be 'bound' in the maul he had to have his shoulders in i.e. no meerkatting. I hate seeing those mauls where the player at the back has it under one arm, disengages and then re-engages with the...

CCRU Round 5 Results and Reports Gosford20 (Hugo Pike, Mitch Starkey tries; Tim Hill 2 conversions,2 penalty goals) d Avoca Beach 10 (James Latham try; Dylan Hardaker 1 conversion, 1 penalty goal) The match was very intense and committed for the entire 80 minutes. The skill level in the very...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

Judging by some of the tackling in the NRL maybe they should employ defence coaches.... (I'll duck and hide now, no need to start a league v union debate on here - there already are a couple of threads dedicated to that).

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

Camp Staaldrad style pre-season? Similar to what Knuckles did with the Wallabies pre-WC07. Long bloody walk carrying 50kg packs followed up by a night bonding over copious amounts of bundy>

Think he was talking about approach rather than age Reg.

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

I was hoping that Brad Thorn would be appointed team manager to fill a similar role to that performed by Gilbert Enoka for the All Blacks.

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

What's Bill Millard doing? From memory he has done well with each coaching appointment undertaken (no notable failures stand out). Not sure about Tim Lane, I know he won a premiership with Manly in 1998, apart from that all his success seems to have come as an assistant coach.
