Pretend Werchon is a generational player that plays 100% of his games for Wests and is a marketing phenom that's going to be the face of Brisbane rugby for the next decade or more. Imagine if Wests after losing the Grand Final sent Werchon to another club in exchange for a 32 year old...

9s always feels a bit undifferentiated from the full format of league since it only has 13 to begin with

Great example of something that's probably not good for society but might have a second order effect benefiting rugby.

That's the ideal outcome from the coach/club's perspective, but not from the player's perspective. "Best" is also sometimes subjective. For a hypothetical example if you're brought in with an aim to play as a running fullback and the coach decides he'd rather have a distributor at 15 and...

There's degrees to it. This forum is mostly anonymous and full of older reasonable people (some allowances for Blues fans). Instagram or Tiktok are seem by a lot of people as extensions of themselves so criticism there is taken quite personally.

Depends whether the coach is making promises he can't keep regarding position or it's only coming from the player end.

There's not necessarily any one entity to point blame toward and I'm sure the vast majority is justifiable expense. But that dollar figure is at odds with a goal of growing rugby.

I'd have greyhounds running around every field and a greenhouse full of marijuana next to every clubhouse if it meant we could bring that cost down

and the crazy part is that Perth is basically Brisbane with better urban planing and world class beaches, it's just far from any other major cities.

easy to pick on Brothers since they're at the top of the list, but $600 to play what's essentially social footy for 99% of the club is fucked

Even then you'd be a behind the eight ball compared to 5 star, 4 star, and 3 star recruits that have been playing for years and attending Elite 11 or position group equivalent camps.

Port Moresby is a different level of dodgy though even if you're in a gated compound with security most of the time. That entire venture has an expiration date on it. Half the NRL can't stay out of misadventure in Australia, which is probably one of the safest countries in the world.

Reasonable people who follow both sports knew this was the most likely outcome. Good for him for getting paid, having a memorable time abroad, and trying his luck.

In order of priority for me: 1. Ikitau 2. Wright 3. Frost 4. Lolesio 5. Tupou Tupou is a dominant prop but the injuries and inability to play huge minutes really limit his value. I don't see Lolesio being head and shoulders above our other available playmakers either even if he is the best of...

"We need a third tier development series for up and coming Australian talent to play in" *monkey paw curls* Super Rugby becomes that third tier development series after the Giteau law is scrapped and every class Wallaby heads to Europe or Japan.

One less week of preseason won't make or break a club. Other clubs wouldn't have close to full numbers at training anyway.

Jock Campbell isn't a fullback that trades on only his athleticism. Could see him maintaining his current level for quite some time.
