    Australian Rugby / RA

What ideas do you want? Anything is better than we have right now so it not like its requires any real thought. Easy option is cast the Pro's offshore and go amateur until we grow some balls to change the regime and can make actual change. Any decent clubland players will be picked up a discount...

    Australian Rugby / RA

But even the 120 version is bleeding the bank account and still has key players going O/S and not sufficient pathways. It won't produce the level of competition to develop International standard players. It's also not doing anything for the game beyond propping it up short term to see out TV...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Is the real question why RA continue to keep signing up for Super Rugby when they know most team are unlikely to break even, let alone a profit? RA know the financials, the Unions are just going along for the ride as there is no plan "B" and without something the Wallabies are at risk. Chicken-egg...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I think this is one of the key issues: "......every time RA has signed a broadcast deal since 1996...." It's hard to grow something that's been hidden behind paywalls making it an "exclusive product" for so long. It's probably a key reason why the game is in decline. I agree with your...

    Brumbies 2025

I think this is closer to the truth. I think people got sick of the power games and BS that went with the team. From property to boardroom issues, it has been stipped of so much. The "clique" running it have done it no favours. But it's also become a victim of its own arrogance and lack of...

Waratahs v Brumbies Sat 22nd March 7:30 PM Allianz

Waterboy did well to remind them that BOK will likely call to play it if both front rows go down.

Waratahs v Brumbies Sat 22nd March 7:30 PM Allianz

Yep, and the fact the Larkham doesn't like his 12/13/15 trying to get through the line in the centre of the field its all crash ball then try go wide and around the Tahs. Very little attacking pressure. Tahs are out working the Brumbies by doing the simple stuff well.

Brumbies v Force Rd2 Saturday 22 February GIO Stadium, Canberra 7:35pm

Ah, the Larkham mediocrity at its best. Well done the Force. Brumbies lacking the basics and very lateral again.

    RWC 2027 Australia

No difference. I believe RA has the $100mil and that's it. All gate, TV, sponsorships etc goes to WR (World Rugby).

    RWC 2027 Australia

Yeah, so RA own 2x Super Rugby teams that on a worst case could cost $30mil a season each to keep afloat, which if they have a TV deal, RA will be obligated to keep paying for. Take out other costs associated with all things Wallabies and RWC (was well over $10mil last RWC) and that $100mill ain't going...

    RWC 2027 Australia

Not relevant? So while WR (World Rugby) is doing the usual cash grab and "maximise profits to help the game worldwide", it's hard to miss that most Nations, their competitions and teams are struggling financially. The game is financially unsustainable and shrinking. So there is fundamental issue that a WR (World Rugby)...

    RWC 2027 Australia

Spot on. So 100K of casual sports watcher to a one off game does not translate to support of Rugby for a season of games. It raises cash yes, but not interest or develops a loyal supporter base. Both are the key metrics in TV and sponsorship deals. A good crowd in ADEL does nothing to help the...

    RWC 2027 Australia

It is why I love Australia Rugby so much. Fuck success, this is about quick cash and self adulation. $100mil will keep the game on life support going for a bit longer right? Post RWC, RA will be like a teenager leaving a brothel - feeling victorious, but having blown the cash, entourage gone...

    RWC 2027 Australia

GIO has pretty good Corporate and a decent amount of space It's the core amenities like toilets, change rooms and general venue catering that's poor, and the weather issue. Raiders really milk (no pun intended) the corporate facilities and get a good returns. Brumbies no longer draw much of the...

    RWC 2027 Australia

Actually, CBR generally punches above its weight with sports attendance. Cbr sells out every Giants AFL game (Manuka capacity restricts crowd numbers) and gets really good BBL crowds (good crowd numbers regardless of the who the home team is as show when they were the COVID game hub) . Too...

ACt Gov have been kicking in about $2mil a year for the last few years.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Possibly. But something has to be cut to fit it in the calendar and with the push to cut costs universally , I don't think it will be a large payday for anyone. It's also another block of time eyes are on the Wallabies and not our domestic rugby.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Yeah, not convinced that we are in that much of a better position. I am worried that the increase we all want to be believe is growth is just the recovery of the previously jaded who are back and trying to be optimistic. The upsurge is not guaranteed. They key issue with the current position...

    Brumbies 2025

IMHO, Ikitau is a waste at 13. You should always play the players where you get the best from them.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Because their management is a key contributing factor for the debt. It would be reasonable expect they would be aware of the risks and revenue shortfall, and also be are of the financial position of RA and the other teams. To claim they could not see the risks is naïve.
