    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

It was a cracker. This was by no means a full-strength Bond side, hallmarked by errors, defensive lapses and some new combos yet to gel and settle. But in the phases of play where they DID gel, they outplayed, outran and outflanked a full-strength and well-experienced UQ outfit. The telling...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

Bond appears spoilt for choice in the forwards, and if they can gel and get the UQ defence going backward, the backs will carve up on attack - especially that back three. However, UQ can never be discounted and if they sniff an opportunity, they will pounce. It will be either a walkover - or an...

OMG!! I was thinking just that....!!

Easts lift three or four notches when Max Craig is playing - I feel for them. Craig and Grenon (for Bond) have been my comp favourites. Prolific workers the entire time they are on field.

Agreed. Roberts is solidly prolific with the boot. Bond has some good goalkicking depth too, with Lancaster and Stowers both pretty handy in that area. Field goals could also be in the offing from the latter two.

Point taken. The teller however was Bond's tendency to play at the level of a lesser opponent; which was missing on Saturday. Still rusty in some areas and there was a good 20 more points on offer. If they can remedy that, UQ and GPS could well be in for a couple of painful Saturday afternoons.

As the only team to have lost 2 games thus far, and with 6 wins at home and 6 wins away, they appear to have already broken tradition in more ways than one.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

Bond were scintillating in their dispatch of Norths on Saturday. It appears that the Bullsharks are underplaying their real strengths by calling attention to their abilities to run the ball and score throughout the forwards and backs - from anywhere on the field. Campbell and Roberts racked up...

Too much focus on the monolithic structure - not a lot on what the players are playing on...and even less on the club song (a crime in itself)

Yup. Eli Pilz certainly did not play like Eli Pilz against Bond

Campbell has been the main on-field architect for Bond's success this season - although he has been an off field architect for Bond for the previous two seasons. He can do it all. Carry, pass, kick, clean out ,bust up the middle, finish - and he is a master reader of the game. Bond's hidden general.

Brothers. The club we love to hate. But there's no denying the traditional greatness that is The Butchery. However, seeing them spanked by Bond a few weeks back, well that's great, too.

What am I missing here? The conversation turns to those GPS players who didn't make the QLD Schoolboys teams, rather than all of those those who successfully trialled that year and competed for QLD at the nationals; and have since gone on to play for QPR, Super Rugby and Wallabies sides in 2023?

I saw this when perusing the pages yesterday. The Qld Schoolboys roster from 2017. Some familiar names there.

If we're talking about the post-apocalyptic state of the game at an elite level in this country? Then yes. But this is a club rugby forum, so nope.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

Competition Paradigm Shift: With the Super Rugby players' return to club pretty much in full swing this week, are we likely to see a comparative swing in performances as certain clubs power up? Or could we see a turning point for clubs coming into their own as a result of the break and Bond's...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2023

I have scrolled through 75 pages of so-called QLD Premier Rugby comments - and I have seen little to nothing about players who are exciting, solid, up and coming etc. The closest was Kohan Herbert....the rest was drivel about Wests, UQ and Brothers - yes the same brothers who got spanked by a...
