Or is it just simply about keeping your options open. Playing both codes is a much better way to improve your overall value and skill set if you want to become a professional player for either code. There are skills you learn in both codes that are transferable and an advantage in the other.

Where are they recruiting from? I have a son in year 12 rowing its about coaching not recruiting. Case in point St Augustine’s winning the coach of the year award for their efforts in U17s. This award usually goes to coach who wins head of the river. I can guarantee that auggies aren’t...

Rugby Australia would be across the scholarship program at schools and would see this as an investment without supporting the player directly. The new representative structure allows these kids to go straight through to the Academies or Gen Blue teams where RA can start investing in coaching...

It would be a big call for the NRL to start paying over $30k a year in year 7 for a kid that might one day be a league player. There are plenty of talent kids at non rugby schools playing league of similar or more ability. NRL pockets are big but most clubs that arent owned by NEWS LTD are broke...

Why not move club rugby to sunday ? All rugby is played on saturday ? Why? they could spread school boy , super rugby, subbies and Shute shield over the weekend to create more opportunities to watch.I would love to have the chance to go watch manly on saturday but im at 2 schoolboy rugby...

Yep and the earth is flat. Cant imagine one kid thinking it doesn't matter if we lose.

Lucky you’re not a selector. Do you think the kids you are talking about are on a pathway to rugby. Look at Moretti from Waverly last year. Do you think he even considered going to union from the age of 16. Most of these kids are there to gain opportunity from the experience.

Are you sure weekes is paying full rate ? Why would he travel all that way to go to newington. I know 3 other boys In that team all being subsidised. Doesn’t really make sense when he could get free education. Not sure who Meorea and Murray are but I wouldn’t call Crighton a great one. He is...

All these kids are on scholarship. I don’t think the NRL paying. Can’t imagine bunnies are paying for Sua'ali'i to go to kings.why would they?

Perhaps this is the way to expand the comp at 1st XV level initially. SJRU are equally struggling with teams to play at that age group. Most of these kids are at non rugby/sport/ high schools but have played rugby through juniors. They could either be eligible to play for the school team or play...

Does anyone know how the canberra/act schoolboy system works. I understand you don't need to be a school to play ? Could this be a way forward in the ISA comp.

    ISA 2019

I It will, because the competition needs a strong Auggies as well as the other ISA schools. The current changes that have been made to accommodate the ISA teams to play against the GPS/CAS teams more regularly are leaps and bounds where this was. They might all call it trials but trust me no...

I think this may of happened, but think about what you are dealing with. Most conform and get it by years 11-12. There are some who are also so appreciative and give back and help with the junior kids.

Didn't say that. we all know you only need 2 -3 talented kids in a team to get results. The amount kids at this school playing both league and union (club as well) on the weekend is what the success is built on. Id say the culture has changed for the better. The schools rugby program has...

    ISA 2019

I think its success was misunderstood. There were kids there on scholarships which meant that everyone else was paying for this to happen. Unlike the richer GPS/CAS schools who have perhaps more generous benefactors, it becomes a bigger issue to the bottom line to continue this approach, but it...

The new 1st XV coach is from Oakhill, which is where the new principal is from. You are correct about Tim cleary and Papa, both had exposure to CAS/GPS schools and the knock on effect a successful rugby program can have on the image and branding of the school. It definitely increased the demand...

In the 14s you have newington, kings, shore Auggies and barker kids playing in the 14A & B comps. There is a new randwick team this year in this age group, not sure where their talent came from (maybe waves & scotts). They are in the A comp but have had a baptism of fire with Western Raptors...
