I didn't observe any dirty play at all - rough? They're not playing marbles :)If I'm a coach I expect the forwards to play rough - it worked because the Ashgrove pack gave up halfway through the second half - The Padua boys did lack discipline early - thE occasion got to them probably - each to...

    AIC Rugby 2015

Absolutely - lets be real for a second - NO Marist player outperformed his Paduan counterpart at Banyou last weekend - that is why MCA lost - they played ok and certainly didn't have a bad day, the defence was just too strong - the only MCA players that came close to matching their opposite...

    QLD Premier Rugby 2015

Scoreline was a little lopsided but it flattered Brothers - it was 20-10 at halftime (3 tries to 2) and that is probably the better indication - Brothers were strong in the forwards but most of their tries were long range runaway affairs. Great game though - credit to all players.

I agree - the players were turning towards the hecklers and entertaining them which made it worse. Didn't handle the pressure and paid the price.

Not at all G - the Ashgrove players were exceptional and should be proud of their efforts - a spirited performance and deserving winners - the behaviour by the Ashgrove Old Boys was an unsavoury blight on the game in my opinion. I stand by that.

The only thing more shameful than the Ashgrove supporters was the fact the Ashgrove administration did nothing to eject them - Ashgrove seems to promote a win and at all costs culture which is IMO very ugly. The fact that the Shorncliffe boys are worse does not excuse the behaviour - a grub is a...

QLD Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

The gap between AIC and GPS is of course closing and it is due to the hard work being done by the AIC schools to improve their standards - only a fool would say the gap is not closing. That being said I agree the top GPS team would generally defeat the top AIC team (this match-up will never...

Are tours supposed to improve a side's rugby? Or is it a status thing? The Padua boys travelled the world went to France, England and Ireland and played against sides with a completely different game-plan/mindset than the Ionas and Ashgroves. A great holiday but not really a suitable prep for...

Nudgee v Downlands should be a cracker on Saturday. I was under the impression that these sides didn't play each other anymore after a series of fiery stoushes back in the 90's - the fact that Downlands was generally pumping Nudgee wouldn't have pleased the powers-that-be at Nudges either. If...

Damon Kelly used to run the weightlifting group over at SLC not sure if he still does. I know that former Downlands headmaster Doug McIntyre was offered a place in TAS many years ago before the stronger TAS schools formed AIC. He knocked it back in the futile hope/belief that one day Downlands...

Current Rugby co-ordinator is former soccer player and coordinated soccer at SLC for a while - having a non rugby rugby coordinator can't help. Damien Reedy is an excellent coach but can only work with the cattle he's got. Current SLC principal has taken the heart out of the school - AFAIK he...

    Queensland U16 Team

The Padua 3 and 7 looked standout to me - both younger boys - 3 destroyed the Marist and SLC packs in the 2 Padua games I saw -

Re the racial slur - inexcusable if it happened - I was down that end and it appeared to be an over the top response to the opposition scoring - I don't think much weight can be attached to his teammates corroborating the slur as they're not impartial and would presumably have been focusingg on...

    AIC Rugby 2011

Huge crowd at Banyo - Ref smashed Padua today - lopsided penalty count and two concurrent send-offs early in second half had Padua backpedalling after 10-10 half time - for repeated infringements i believe - made all the difference with the result IMO- honest appraisal - not much between the two...

I believe jack creighton should be 12 - powerful ball runner and punishing in defense -

I agree it's good to see the spoils shared somewhat - Villa won the 2010 comp and was it Lauries the year before in 2009? Ash grove are generally merciless against weaker sides so I don't feel any sympathy for them lol

definitely not in the spirit of the game - have coached a lot of schoolboy rugby - the refs at Iona (yep even the QRU ones) have always been "dubious"

sounds like a pretty convincing win for the paduans - always a hard game at Curlew Park - can anyone provide a brief wrap up of the game - best players etc?

I have only respect for the Lauries boys - I taught there for 5 years - and they're always passionate about their rugby and are ferocious at the breakdown - IMO the headmaster is not big on rugby or any sport for that matter - thankfully the teachers, coaches and boys carry on the tradition -...
