A lot of those moments of ingenuity from Cooper would be more likely to succeed in the Wallabies IMO, as the quality of players outside him is greater (not putting shit on the Reds, its just a fact).

I agree. When combined with other tactics like holding the ball in both hands in front rather than under one arm, the hop-step can be very effective.

I agree Cutter. I did actually forget Horne, but I dont think he will be starting this year. If AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) doesn't nail down a position soon, its going to get ugly. Elsom is a 6 or an 8.

If their going to change positions for each play, it doesnt matter where they start. Its getting a bit too towards the "total football" concept for my liking, but i suppose adaptable/opposable backlines are a good thing when they work well.

Whats this JO'C to wing thing goin on? If he's going to be in the outside backs he'll be at fullback, where he has actually played a bit this year.

As one of the most experienced backs in Australia at the moment, Matt Giteau would have to be picked in the squad. The thought of an all under 25 backline coming up against the Boks or AB's is not a good one. We saw how the pressure got to O'Connor in a few of the tests last year.

Re: Why can't we maul? Bruce and the guys who watch a lot of NH Rugby and Currie Cup, do the European Nations and SA commit more players to mauls? From my perspective, I dont recall seeing Australian teams commit more than the forward pack (rotating and rejoining) to a maul.
