I think a back row with LT and Sean would be better balanced with Colby at seven rather than Jordy. Close call between them though.

^ Gents, I wouldn't be getting my hopes up about Day being a starter. While I was away I watched a fair bit of the Top League. I'll admit, I only saw Day play the once and he came off the bench for Verblitz with about twenty to go. It could have been just a bad day (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk) but I...

I reckon only the front row is anything like a sure thing. We are very light on in the halves. 1. Smith 2. Hanson 3. Weeks 4. Jeffries 5. Cummins 6. Timani 7. Fainga'a 8. McMahon (c) 9. Stirzacker 10. Meehan 11. English 12. Inman 13. Naivalu 14. Koribete 15. Hodge 16. Leafa 17...

I agree it wasn't Hooper's tackle to make. DHP was covering two on the outside. Sio ran hard to try and get into position but, ultimately wrong-footed himself and opened the gap when Foley completely missed their #12. Once they realised what was happening Hooper, Genia and Arnold all tried to...

A good example of this mental laziness was the second try the Argies scored in the test at Twickers. The Wobs forwards are just strolling along their own try line, particularly Hooper who has his hands on his hips and is looking at the imaginary can he's kicking, while the Argies are taking a...

Lucas would be a good get and Banks has looked really good in the NRC. I don't know much about Geraghty but he must be about 50 by now. Wasn't he playing for the poms like 10 years ago? Hegarty, Hawkins and Crawford - sigh

NRC Rnd 5: Vikings v Rising

That's right, I just remembered him running away from the trainer to join a ruck with his arm hanging like a black pudding.

Agree. 10 wins has got to be the minimum, with a fist full of bonus points. The only way to be sure of a finals spot is to top the conference.

Notice that Cruze is not on the injury list, or the team sheet. Dropped? Rested?

Some of us are being a bit too negative about the draw I reckon. It would be better if the second bye came after the Saffa tour for sure but, it is what it is. If we are going to be fair dinkum finals contenders next year then we need to beat the Blues, 'Tahs and Ponies, all home games. Pick...

I think he did it twice, same result both times.

Oi! Sydeny has more rain p.a. than Melbourne - so there! But yeah, it is a bit of a redundant comment :(

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

A bit OT but I think the Rebels are looking pretty good for centres next year. Probably be Hodge and Inman but there are Sefa, Shipperley, English, and Sione that can all go alright. Our halves are the worry; we aren't going to get far without a quality 10.

He was a bit ordinary last week but has been good in the previous rounds. Harsh but fair i guess.

NRC Round 4: Melbourne Rising V Brisbane City

Saturday 17/09 3:00pm Harlequin Rugby Club, Ashwood Live on Fox Sports Referee: Ed Martin 30% chance of rain. Bring a brolly, just in case. Home Team 1. Cruze Ah Nau (Footscray/Melbourne Rebels) 2. Pat Leafa (Box Hill/Melbourne Rebels) 3. Tim Metcher (Moorabbin/Melbourne Rebels) 4. Sam...

Slightly disappointed to see Sione dropped to the bench otherwise looks alright.

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

In time, I reckon it would be awesome if each NRC team had an under 20s side playing curtain raisers in their own comp.

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

I suspect Toolis is playing at 6 as a way of fitting him in to the side. I can't imagine he would be likely to get much time there in Super rugby. He looks a better player than Cummins but Cummins is probably the Rising's best lineout jumper at the moment. Actually, I'd like to see LT get a...

    Melbourne Rising Season 2016

Wasn't Sefa at the Wallaby bivouac? JD still had a couple of furry moments, better though. I do agree that Bip is worth persevering with at 10. I thought Toolis went off a bit early, I didn't catch that he picked up a head knock.
