I think they are trying to differentiate GRR (WSR and Showcase as well) from the NRC just like they used to when in Super Rugby and having the Perth Spirit in the NRC. But they wanted to keep the Force banner flying all year around. Not sure what happens with the stats for players during the NRC...

I thought Hodge was horrible last year. Remember him being out of position to miss tackles and then not having the pace to chase someone. I don't know who is best for the position yet but I'd like to see someone like Wright, Speight, Maddocks or Kellaway. Guessing next year Vunivalu will be...

Yeah I'd say it's more to do with developing a squad than load management. Especially with the likes of Hocking and Blyth. Guys like Rodda are a different story though.

I've never understood why he hasn't been used as much in his time at the Rebels. Got a couple of Wallaby caps at the Force and then got benched at the Rebels. Was it cause Wessels wanted bigger backrow without a fetcher? I hope he gets a lot more game time this year!
