I do agree the old boy placement, sibling placement, junior school numbers only allow perhaps 20 year 7 boys per year - maybe a few more these days. Although they are academically focused they are partially selective taking into account a boys other talents as well. Also religion is jmportant...

I think CAS in recent times has produced alot of quality fly halfs - look at Foley (A), Fay (C), J Deb (T) - this year is no exception. The plethora of options presents a positive dilemna for selectors.
