    Wales vs Springbokke

You are just repeating what you want to happen but not addressing the complexities of it. NZ and OZ are very different environments to SA. They have relatively stable economies, stable and relatively strong currencies, low crime, low corruption, no quota system, no flaky management. Ok Oz also...

    Wales vs Springbokke

I doubt that is the main reason but it may be one of them. Why am I, with a degree and 15 years of experience, living and working in the UK, contributing to the UK economy and tax receipts, instead of doing so back in SA? Many reasons. OomPB can judge "chicken runners" all he wants but we...

    Wales vs Springbokke

So, what happened on this tour, SA posters? Are you still sticking to your theory that we are just complacent? Four games in a row now? I'm still saying the problems are a lot more fundamental than that. We may have developed a more 'attacking' game but we are still very much a one dimensional...

    England v Springboks - Twickenham

What do you mean he has an issue? Is there a rumour going around that is substantiated / believable?

    England v Springboks - Twickenham

Hmmm. To me, Francois Louw is probably more important than Duane Vermeulen. He allows Vermeulen to play the game he does. I'm not confident our loosies are going to dominate like you think. Not so confident. I actually expect the Boks to lose this one. It's been getting closer over the...

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

Have you ready my posts? I don't think it's "hunky dory". I also think blaming every loss and poor game overseas on complacency is too simplistic and we will be doomed to fail repeatedly if that's all we're looking at.

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

Nice post GGRS. I have watched three Springbok games in Dublin. 1998, 2004 and 2014. I can tell the Irish love playing us and I think this is because they relish standing up physically. Psychology seems to count for a lot too, and you guys have the edge there. EDIT: And of course, I agree, you...

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

So, why do you think they would have had a slack attitude, looking at the previous results vs Ireland and the knowledge that Ireland are a very good side? Are they all morons? What do you think explains all the other shit play and results on our NH tours for the last, at least, 10 years?

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

I didn't say we suddenly have a shite team. I said we don't play well in the NH tours. I say there is more to it than mere complacency. Look at our previous results vs Ireland for the last 10 years in NH tours. 10 Nov 2012 Ireland 12 - 16 South Africa 06 Nov 2010 Ireland 21 -...

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

Complacency is clearly a "thing" but I don't think it fully explains the pattern of poor performance in Springbok autumn tours for what, 10 or so years. And unfortunately, as long as people keep blaming complacency, we'll probably continue to perform poorly until the whole problem is identified.

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

England haven't beaten South Africa since 2006. I'd attribute that more to England having gone through a poor period. Results are getting closer and England will beat us soon, perhaps even this coming weekend. 24 Nov 2012 England 15 - 16 South Africa 23 Jun 2012 South Africa 14...

    Ireland vs Springbokke @ Aviva

I don't buy this theory of underestimating opponents. All of us on this board know we can't underestimate Ireland (or anyone really), we need focus and intensity in every test match. It doesn't make sense to suggest that Meyer and all the players are more stupid than us. There is something...

Oops, didn't see this post until after I posted. What he said.

    S18 on its way

That is correct. But do you quickly forget that Australia were the one who were granted the last additional side and were the primary drivers behind the previous expansions? I hope that our negotiators learn something from this: Do not make concessions in expectation of future reciprocation...

    South Africa restores race quotas

I repeat myself but here you have hit on the core of the problem. Politicians are despicable people the world over and will do anything for votes. In order to help fix the problem they should be pouring money into the sport at the right levels, making for equal playing fields. But they are not...

    South Africa restores race quotas

There have been several foreign coaches in South African rugby. Plumtree and Mitchell most recently spring to mind. Unless you think there is something in the water in SA that turns these guys into racists then I'd rather stick to a less sinister viewpoint that coaches live and die by results...

NZ vs England Test 2 2014

Number of players in a country is not correlated with results after a certain threshold.

Is the TMO no longer required?

SA Rugby- Looking a Bit Broken Right Now

IMO, Meyer believes strongly in a core of established players > individual skill. Morne Steyn is part of the core group. At this point I don't think Meyer would change a player in this key position, and I think he'll stick with Steyn. I could be wrong of course, I'm just giving my view on...

SA Rugby- Looking a Bit Broken Right Now

For better or worse Morne Steyn is our flyhalf through till 2015 and the RWC. I do not believe it's in our interest to try and establish a new flyhalf at this late point, unfortunately.
