Player movements for Shute Shield 2014

I don't know Dave Harvey personally but struggle to comprehend how one bloke can play at so many different clubs without looking in the mirror and asking himself if it's all a gee up. Off the top of my head the list includes the Bunnies, Parramatta, Gordon, Norths, Warringah, Narbonne, Western...

    Waratahs 2014

Cheik would be nuts to have Beale on the bench. He might start the season there but I'd bet my last dollar he's starting pretty quickly. Without a doubt when on song, he's world class. Add in some tough love from Cheil and we can expect big things I reckon.

Player movements for Shute Shield 2014

Will Paterson (2013 Bunnies Under 20's) to Easts I believe - no doubt there are others. In reality, it's probably not a bad thing and if anything would speed their development up, having spent a season or two in a professional environment.

Player movements for Shute Shield 2014

Shaun Treweek is a great pick-up for Manly. Norths seem to have lost blokes left, right and centre - what's going on there? Randwick seem to have recruited heavily - be interesting to see the results. Bring on the footy season!

    Waratahs 2014

    Round 2 team (Tahs have the bye Round 1) - thoughts? It won't happen but I'd make Hooper the captain as well. 1) Robinson 2) Polota-Nau 3) Ryan 4) Douglas 5) Potgieter 6) Dennis 7) Hooper (C) 8) Palu 9) Phipps 10) Foley 11) Betham 12) Beale 13) Ashley-Cooper 14) Crawford 15) Folau Bench -...

    Scotland v Australia, Murrayfield, 5am 24 Nov 2013

Who do these blokes think they are? Respect is being restored to the proud Wallaby history through a coach with kahunas not willing to cop crap from anyone. I admire Ewen for taking a stand and not being dictated to by his players. I'd love to see the guys now more than likely guaranteed to get...

    Galloping Greens

Muggleton a master stroke? Did you watch the Rebels play last season? No doubt his record with the victorious '99 RWC winning Wallabies will stand the test of time but that was 14 years ago and I think we'd all agree the game has changed dramatically.

    Scotland v Australia, Murrayfield, 5am 24 Nov 2013

Reckon several blokes need a rest OR dropped to keep them on their toes. If you run with the below you've got important combos from Super rugby so guys feel comfortable. Tight 5 are all Tahs and your 9, 10, 12 are all Brumbies. Would love to see Folau at 13 too. I'm confident under Ewen we...

    Ireland v Australia, Dublin, 16 Nov 2013

We're finally getting to a stage where we have depth on our bench & Ewen knows when to use them. Polota-Nau, Robinson, Timani, Gill, Lealiafano this week but think about what a difference guys like Pocock, Beale, Higginbotham, etc will make. Hooper you'd have to think would revert back to the...

Any news on when we can expect to see the final draw for next season?

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

The Wallabies should have won - England were terrible yet somehow found a way to win (or did we find yet another way to lose!) regardless of some atrocious refereeing. Genia had his worst test - the box kick charge-down for an English try was farcical. I can't count how many times he does it...

    Shute Shield 2013

On the money Qaz - really good post. I admire the structures Uni have put into place to get the incredible results they've had over the last 5-10 years - it's something many professional league, union, football, cricket, etc clubs should use as a template. However not many other rugby clubs...

    Shute Shield 2013

Late Starter - point taken to a degree. Uni weren't responsible for developing talent like Dennis - they simply swooped in and grabbed the schoolboy star from Penrith for example. And I'd say the majority of club rugby lovers would agree Uni well & truly have a knack for 'hoarding all the talent...

    Shute Shield 2013

Thanks Coach - I still believe something is clearly wrong and the above demonstrates NSWRU's current player points system doesn't work. No doubt I've missed several others. I noticed ARU boss Bill Pulver's son, Angus, is playing 9 in Uni 2nd's Colts on Saturday - the kid was an Aussie...

    Shute Shield 2013

I struggle to understand how Sydney Uni can field the below 1st grade team on Saturday against Norths - the NSWRU rules around player points are farcical. I admire the systems Uni have in place to continually produce talent for the 'next level' but this is ridiculous. Sydney University: 1...

    Cheerio Deans

Deans has to go & here's why: The Wallabies under his watch have a history of losing big games as well as too many Tests we'd expect to win (Scotland x 2 + Samoa). He also has a history of poor selections/judgement: * Selecting 1 x specialist 7 for RWC 2011 * Dropping Sharpe for Simmons for...

    Wallabies 31 Man Squad

I struggle to understand how Simmons continually gets picked - Douglas showed last year he is well and truly up to it and plays a much more physical game. Surely McMeniman, if he proves his fitness, will get a spot in the squad. Thoughts on a starting 15 based on the 25 man squad picked today...

    Shute Shield 2013

TC - struggling to understand where you got this from? "Wicks had 7 players who were regular 1st graders last year, 8 players making their 1st grade debut at the Wicks." Asa, Halangahu, Aho, Taavili, Speechley, Lam, Browne, Ford, Hepetema, Wright, Kotezcky have all played 1st grade. Paila...

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

Foley cannot coach and what he did by bailing on the Tahs after repeatedly saying he was committed long term (whilst signing up every player he could, knowing all along he was going) is a joke. You've only got to look at the Force and how they play to see his fingerprints. They should have...
