    Northern Hemisphere Rugby Season 15/16

Speaking of bonus points, did you see this article from Thursday on ESPN Scrum? It's from John Taylor, a former Wales and B&I Lions flanker 40-some years back. He responds to 6N CEO John Feehan's claim that a bonus points system would be inherently unfair. The takeaway is that he thinks a...

Pre Season '16: Force v Canes

The Force were very effective with the ball in hand. They didn't mess around much, moved the ball quickly, and found holes in the Hurricanes defense before the Canes even knew they were there. Good start.

Pre Season '16: Force v Canes

They held out well during two yellow cards. Canes butchering some chances, but Force also having a hand in that. Force are also making the most of the their possession when in the Canes half, moving the ball pretty effectively, and seem under orders not to play any rugby in their own half.

Had to reload mine a couple times. Also, if you're running a script blocker like ghostery or some adblock extension, may need to whitelist the site. (Ghostery got in my way at first.)

    HSBC 7's: ROUND 3 - WELLINGTON

This has been making the rounds. Even SBW tweeted it out, saying you don't win them all. Oscar Ouma didn't even realize who it was he planted until he was shown later.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby Season 15/16

Couldn't they work out some weighting system for home and away bonus points? Same goes for the risk of a team winning a grand slam but losing the tournament (what KevinO mentioned); I'm sure they could work something out to make sure that couldn't happen, like a team who wins a grand slam...

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby Season 15/16

A stat from the World Cup to keep an eye on: During the World Cup, southern hemisphere teams scored 50% more tries than penalties, while northern hemisphere (European) teams scored 50% more penalties than tries. It'll be interesting to see if that trend holds during the 6N, especially since...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I wonder if it'd be possible to see some teams like Russia's Enisei leave the EPCR and join an Asian professional league. Geographically, they're far closer to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, even Singapore than they are to the rest of Europe.

A University league pulled in a five-figure crowd? Was it a final, or is Japan really gearing up for their run at hosting the World Cup?

Gatland picks 10 players from outside Wales for the 37-man extended 6N squad: Forwards: Rob Evans (Scarlets), Paul James (Ospreys), Gethin Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Tomas Francis (Exeter Chiefs), Aaron Jarvis (Ospreys), Samson Lee (Scarlets), Scott Baldwin (Ospreys), Kristian Dacey (Cardiff...

You won't hear this often, but Barnes probably deserves some credit for keeping his cool, not making a big deal of it, and just keeping the incident in his back pocket until Kolelishvili lost his head on the floor with Wynn-Jones.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby Season 15/16

Nonu seemed like an odd choice for Toulon. He's always done best with a locksmith outside him to open doors, like Conrad Smith. But instead he has Bastereaud, a battering ram who doesn't do a lot of creating. Nonu will do a job, and he's used that new-found boot a few times, but it won't be...

    Rugby 7s general chat

David Nucifora is trying to change that as Ireland's Performance Director. He's re-established 7s for women and men, and they're recruiting a lot of players from GAA -- so they're big on handling skills and finding space. (Like Australia, rugby is riding behind a few other more popular sports...

    The Fallout from RWC 2015

Farrell's an interesting choice. One argument you'll hear is that he brings some of that intensity the side lost when O'Connell retired from Test rugby. And with Joe Schmidt at the helm, no one has to worry about Farrell sticking his nose into selection or imposing himself on the rest of the...

John Mitchell Hired as USA Rugby Men's Eagles Head Coach

I'm not sure we can equate Tolkin's man-management issues with Mitchell's. Tolkin seemed weak and ineffective when it came to handling big personalities and situations. Mitchell seems to be on the other side of that, too heavy-handed and overpowering. No argument with the Nigel Melville...
