    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

I found this to be quite interesting and thought some others might too. Cricket Victoria had Michael Hussey independently review it's selection and contracting processes. A number of the issues raised, if not all, reminded me of current and previous Queensland/Australian rugby concerns raised...

I stand corrected, I must have had in my mind that the Elite Developing Squad contract was his first time putting pen on paper.

We'd probably be sitting here complaining about losing young talent to other franchises (or other codes) if they don't get some of these high performing kids on academy contracts. Floyd, for example, didn't get signed while in school, but after starring in Colts 1 and a few cameos in 1st Grade...

GPS posted this the other day. I'm hearing GPS & UQ 1st and 2nd Grade, Colts 1 and 2 will play each other. The rest will be 3-way games, (eg Dalby 1's vs GPS 3's v UQ 3's etc). The road trip is almost worth dusting the boots off!

Rarely seemed to start and from what I know was fit during the finals last year but wasn't picked

From the names I do know, I'd say Bas Ward, John Downes and Floyd Aubrey are probably the most likely of getting a shot at some stage. That's not really saying anything though, as they've all played there before. I was more making a point that the guys leaving are fringe/reggies players and...

Haven't heard of anything of note over the offseason. All the players I heard that have left were not really regular starters in 1's so maybe looking for other opportunities? I'm sure GPS isn't too worried as they have a good crop of Colts players coming through this year.

I love the offseason rumour mill! I've heard Wests are confident they have got Cullin Cooper-Jones as well.

I think Louis Werchon would be hopeful of some time in Brothers Prems aswell. I think I saw photos of him doing Reds pre-season?

Have seen Matt Garland being named in the Easts 7's team the past few weeks. I wonder if his old coach, Shane Arnold, has been on the phone to him about coming back to GPS after the 7's season... Hopefully!

Carl Marshall is back at Brothers as Assistant Coach. Interesting to see! I have heard a few things about him, 1. that he was always taking time off coaching at the end of this year to study and spend time with family, and 2. that he found out he wasn't coaching Wests through the Social Media...

I've heard it's just a pre-season training situation - similar to what Matt Gicquel did with them a few years ago. Rebels already have Tuttle, Powell and Sorovi!! Just off the Colts 1 and 1st Grade Grand Finals alone, I wouldn't be surprised if CCJ and Bas Ward are the GPS 1st Grade halves in...

UQ's No 8 Iona Halaholo off to the Tahs. Was very impressive this year https://www.rugby.com.au/news/nsw-waratahs-recruitment-drive-snares-backrower-from-queensland-2021915

No, Tuaina is out with stress fractures. Apparently, Rebels wanted Tuttle to drain some fluid (or something) out of his knee so he is right for day 1 of their 16-week pre-season. Something he usually plays with, no pain etc - more of a maintenance thing. Both are big losses.

What does Matt Gicquel have to do to get noticed! He even wears orange headgear!!
