I think the obvious answer to this is the removal of South Africa. They can get to London quicker than they can get here, and we can get to LA quicker than we get there. Super Rugby focuses it's growth to the north and east of here. Imagine the mess there would have been had Argentina made...

There is limited direct flights to Perth anyway. So that may not solve anything. It's fine if you're in Jo Burg, and can get on the flight that night, but if you're somewhere else in SA, you have to get to Jo Burg, or go via Dubai.
