    Shute Shield 2024

I just had a little read online. He was an assistant at the Woodies in 17/18 and head coach from 2019-23 so he is hardly Craig Bellamy in terms of time at one club. It looks like he is ultimately seeking for the next challenge in order to test himself, which fair enough. Sounds like he wants to...

    Shute Shield 2024

I'm out of the loop but there is obviously a problem at Eastwood with a heap of players going and the coach (who is a club stalwart). What has happened to make everyone jump ship?

Has to be Bell doesn’t it?! Surely the most consistent Wallaby last year.

Maybe he has been earmarked to be one of Australia's next great rugby administrators! ;)

    ISA 2024

Agree with what you are saying but spare a thought for the Orange and Bathurst teams that have to leave at 5.30 every second week to travel, and usually get back about 9pm. Sydney teams usually only come to Orange or Bathurst once a season.

    Shute Shield vs Hospital Cup

I had a short playing career for Wests in the early 2000's. Right at the start of the season a bloke said to me "you'll get a boil from the dirty ground". It wouldn't have been 2 weeks later and sure enough I had a massive infection in my arm that came up as a festy boil!

Yes fair call. There were certainly a lot of people that were not keen on Eddie being signed, but I think the majority of people were optimistic about his appointment (probably me included). Those people are probably to most shocked and wondering how the heck things went so went wrong!

Gee I hope he has some success and surely we can't get any worse. Everyone seems to be pretty upbeat about JS signing - a bit like we were 14 months ago when Eddie signed. Good luck to you Joe - I hope you are the man to lead us out of the shiteshow that Aussie rugby has been for the past little...

    Shute Shield 2024

Sounds like a mass exodus. Not saying its untrue but can't understand why a centre/wing that "played most of the super rugby season for the Crusaders last year" would be chomping at the bit to come over here to sign with the Woods and play Shute Shield. It would want to be a VERY good cheque book!

The best XV of players from any school

There are a couple of other names I would have thought worthy..... Gregan and Larkham. Both went on and did a bit after their school days! If you look back through this thread someone has had a crack at a Cranbrook XV.

Kinross at Orange is also in very high demand as a co-ed school and is now one of the largest boarding schools in the state. I was talking to a mate 2 weeks ago who is sending his son there next year (year 7) largely because it is co-ed - the young fella would have been 5th generation from one...

They have a rugby program but it isn’t strong. Think they might be second division of ISA.

Barker boys, obviously, compete in the CAS comp and their girls compete in the ISA comp against the likes of Kinross, Scots All Saints et al. Not sure what New are planning to do for a girls comp but ISA could be an option.

To be fair though Ardie is way out of the league of just about every rugby player in the world!! We just have to try an pick the best we have available to be able to compete with the likes of Ardie. Imagine cloning 15 Ardie Savea's and putting them all in a rugby team!

    Waratahs 2024

Correct, they don't really need him and can't really afford him. They are cutting players left right and centre to stay within the salary cap. Signing an untested, unproven winger (in terms of league) on big money probably not high on their list of priorities when there are other tried and...

I have high hopes for Shore in '24 but think the 'supporters' that are doing the most talking about Shore's hopes might not be actual Shore supporters but instead punters that are looking forward to jumping on the shaming bandwagon if Shore doesn't go quite as well as hoped.

Agreed. From what I know (which is very little) the Baabaas week would have been like a week of Mad Mondays with a game of rugby at the end, especially at the end of a RWC year. Actually sounds like great fun!

I wouldn't care if I never saw an Aussie half box kick ever again! I think it is such a low percentage play that rarely reaps any real benefit and only invites our opposition to counter attack at us within our half. I know it probably has a place in the game but we have used it far too often I...

I wouldn't mind Cheika in a roll like that. I think I'd rather Cheika than White.

Jeezuz Yoda it must have been a long week - your a bit touchy old mate! I wasn't suggesting 'no games' - that's a twist of words and a ridiculous comment! I was suggesting that with Aussie rugby being in such a shambles that it would be a terrible shame if any of our senior players were to get...
